    HTC Desire vs Samsung Mesmerize

Anybody have any experience with either of these that they want to share? Looking at getting a new phone here soon and these are two through US Cellular that I'm looking into. I currently have the HTC Touch Pro 2 and like the Windows capabilities which I know aren't available with either of these but US Cellular doesn't seem to think they'll be getting any new Windows phones any time soon so a Android phone is my next option since I'm not a blackberry fan.

I have never had good luck with any samsung phone I have had. Always get bad reception or dropped calls with them on sprint but I don't have the same problems with other brands.

I like the HTC phones better than Samsung, part of that has to do with HTC having better development communities.

I have had the Touch and the Touch Pro 2 and had no problems with either! The guy at the store was really talking up the Mesmerize though so it got me interested. I've done a little researd but wanted info from those w/some first hand experience.

Sorry, I'm speaking more in generalities, I haven't tried either phone...

I have nothing but good things to say about HTC phones. Never had a Samsung though.

I normally love Samsung products, but I really stick by HTC for phones. Solid devices.

Re: HTC Desire vs Samsung Mesmerize

I've got an HTC Desire and I love it. My biggest problem (and what tends to be an overall android issue) is battery life. HTC Sense makes it worse. However, I rooted my phone and wiped my phone and put CyanogenMod6 on it instead. (which is a mod of android 2.2 (froyo)) I haven't had the chance to mess with the Mesmerize, I know plenty of people who own samsung phones and they dislike them. In general HTC tends to have better reception than most other phones, also it's worth mentioning that the Desire definitely feels well made and feels like quality in your hand.

Re: HTC Desire vs Samsung Mesmerize

Bump. Our company is switching to US Cellular and I need to select a phone by this Friday. I currently have a BlackBerry Curve and am thinking I want to get out of the BlackBerry world and into the Android world.

Does anyone have any updated comments regarding HTC Desire versus Samsung Mesmerize? My biggest concerns will be call quality (didn't have good luck with the BB Curve), battery life, and ability to sync with Microsoft Outlook email, calendar, and contacts.

Yes, I'm also anxious to hear the comments on the Mesmerize. We've been US Cellular customers for like 15+ yrs or so; currently only on flip phones. I was in the US Cellular store yesterday and they were high on the Mesmerize.

The only thing I know about Samsung phones is that they are the slowest manufacturer at putting out software updates. HTC is the fastest followed closely by Motorola.

Re: HTC Desire vs Samsung Mesmerize

I ended up going with the Desire and have no complaints. The guy I dealt with where I bought mine had one also and really liked it. I went back to a different store during their Christmas special when they had free phones to get my nephew one b/c he's on my plan and the guy at that one had the Mesmerize but said the HTC is much more durable. The only real complaint I have about mine is the battery life but it was made clear to me when I bought it that it's battery life wasn't as long as the Mesmerize

Unless you have both, a comparison doesn't really matter, does it? It's more important to just know the battery life.

What did the salesman mean about the HTC being more "durable?" Won't break as easily if you drop it? Screen resists scratches better?

I'm glad to see this thread up again because I need a new phone, soon, thru USC. They sold out of the Mesmerize during the Christmas B1G1F sale, but I'm wondering if the ones now being advertised are the same model/version or something newer.

I'm considering the HTC Incredible from Verizon. Anyone have experience with these? I've narrowed it to this, Droid X, Samsung Fascinate (although like some others I've had bad luck with Samsung phones) and the iPhone (a distant 4th).

I have one and love it. Thought about getting my wife one when her contract is up in May. Have you messed around with one at the store yet? I would get a hands on first on all devices. At this point you can get good deals on the Incredible since its life cycle is narrowing.
