ESPN Positive Spin on 2 pt Attempt

In the "Week in Review" video the Fake Extra Point is mentioned at about 11:30 in the vid.
The analyst emphasizes that Rhoads had faith in his team. The analyst also says the following:
"If I wasn't 5'8, 165 lbs, and in my 30's, I would play college football, and I would play for Paul Rhoads at Iowa State. I just would."

I just wanted to throw that out there and I am glad that media analysts can tell how much CPR believes in his guys.

Re: ESPN Positive Spin on 2 pt Attempt

The FSN guys that do the pre and post game shows love CPR. The former Mizzouu player on the panel says he would want to play for CPR. One of the guys started his segment, a couple of weeks ago, with something on CPR. They were calling him the "Dragon Slayer" after the UT win.

"I'm proud to lead this program and this team in whatever we do. Whether it's a community service project, or through practice or winning a bowl game, but you don't do that without the kids believing and being all in, and going out there and accomplishing all [of] the goals and expectations that we set." - Coach Paul Rhoads

There has been quite a few nice quotes about CPR from ESPN and FSN analysts over the past few weeks... He is definitely hitting the national spotlight for his quotes and his overwhelming belief in the team, something that is very good for the whole university in my eyes, and especially for this football team moving forward.

After all the crap some of the upperclassmen on this team have been through, I'm thrilled to see them go out playing for this guy. They deserve him.

Re: ESPN Positive Spin on 2 pt Attempt

you know why they like CPR so much? Because they want to be first in line to get an interview when he hits the big time at ohio state or penn state.

Plenty of boards love him because ISU can't hold on to coaches. They all see ISU as a proving ground for HCs.

Personally, if players want to play for him and he shows his guts like he has, then I want him to be our JoPa or Father Time.

First of all I'm tickled the media loves CPR and the extra attention can do nothing but help recruiting.

Secondly I think it woulb be difficult to pull him away for awhile.

Lastly, if we have a coach that is so successful that the top schools want him........I don't see that as the worst thing in the world.

... and welcome back to the newest episode of "Will He or Wont He?"

CPR is getting attention because he is a good coach and his team is responding despite being outgunned in almost every game.

That is all I care about for now. What happens, happens. Just like Saturday.

All we can do is cheer for the team and hope for the best. I am 100% sure that ISU is going to do everything in their power to keep CPR here as long as possible. Hopefully he will be around long enough to take the program to a higher level. If he does leave, I hope that progress is continued in the future.

As a fan, that is all I can hope for. I can't expect a lifetime coach and I can't be a pessimist and assume he will be gone in a year (which he wont).

Absolutely the right call, not only for the game, but for the future of the program. He proves the concept of "all in" in every game he coaches.

I was thinking yesterday, that's Rhoads decision to go for 2 last week pretty much cemented him as a genius in my mind. I have been waiting my whole life for a coach that has the guts that he does.

What would losing Paul Rhoads do to this fanbase? That's a blow a lot of people couldn't recover from as fans.

I want everything conceivable done to keep the man. Iowa didn't give Ferentz $3.5 million after his first BCS bowl, but for some reason he decided to stay. We can only pray that Rhoads really likes it here. Someone needs to put up a billboard w/Earle Bruce's infamous quote right out front of the Jake.

He said that the biggest mistake he ever made was leaving Iowa State.

Re: ESPN Positive Spin on 2 pt Attempt

I can see Coach Rhoads staying here until two things happen:
    1. His father is unable (through death or dementia) to appreciate his work, and
    2. The fan base becomes jaded with success and becomes a publicity problem.

I can't say the same about the assistants but I think Coach Rhoads is smart enough to properly assess the needs of the team and of potential assistants to make a good match for replacements.

    you are right. Henry Ford
