    What's the vibe on campus?

For those that are current ISU students, what is the vibe on campus toward football?

I graduated right after the disastrous 2003 season, which carried over from the horrible ending of the 2002 season. I remember that after the OU game in 2002 that a lot of student fans seemed to give up and assumed the worst.

How are the students reacting to the big wins and losses this season? Will there be a good turnout for Mizzou? I would hate to see a tough fought season come down to a half filled senior day stadium.

It seems like the student section is waaay better than when I was in school. I don't know if it just took more time to get used to playing winning football or what.

    What are everyones thoughts?

I can guess most people's thoughts towards football are "Beat Colorado"...

A lot of "Best game ever" on Facebook.

Some disappointment, of course, but a lot of contemplative "Wow, remember 2 years ago? Now we're sad we lost to Nebraska in OT."

I would say overall people are a little down. Alot of what-ifs going around. But I don't think we have given up hope. We all see a very winnable game this weekend. The student section was crazy on Saturday. That being said, I am a little nervous about the attendance for the Missouri game. I know alot of people are going home Friday after class since it is Thanksgiving Break. Hope I am wrong.

You won't be wrong. The attendance has always been absolutely pathetic for the Missouri game at home because it's always on that weekend. There won't be hardly any students in the balcony if I had to guess.

Last time we played MU at home, we had dropped 7 straight conference games, and 9 straight games.

I like to think there will be a decent number of students there.

I hope you're right, maybe things have changed. All I remember is that the whole campus was always deserted by 3pm on that Friday with all the "have to run home to mommy and daddy" students jetting out ASAP for Thanksgiving Break.

Perhaps I'm still (and rightly so) bitter at how few students were at that Missouri game a few years back where we could have won the North, it was the most pathetic display of "support" I can remember from ISU students.

I never got that either. Maybe it's because I was in the band and the decision was always made for me, but quite frankly, spending Sunday-Sunday back at home was always MORE than enough for me.

Re: What's the vibe on campus?

The attitude is changing among students just like it is with fans. A lot of people I know used to just chalk up losses to any team that has been decent in the last few years but finally after beating Texas and standing toe to toe with Nebraska students are finally seeing what Rhoads is bringing. I won't say the student section will be full that day because its too far away but I'll be trying my hardest to convince everyone I can to stay.

Agree with this. Everyone I have heard said the 2-pt was the right call. It sucks, but everyone knows our guys played a great game. The weirdest thing was instantly after the game when the student section just stood in one place. No one knew what to do.

I freakin hate games the weekend of Thanksgiving break almost as much as I hate games on the next weekend. Iowa State fans, especially the students really don't show up at all.

I know everyone misses their mommies, but seriously, cut the cord and stick around for the LAST GAME OF THE REGULAR SEASON!!!

Students, you may not realize it, but your time at ISU is so short compared to the rest of your life. Enjoy it and DO NOT run home as soon as possible. You will regret it when you are in your thirties.

PACK THE JACK! I don't care how cold it is. Most of you are from Iowa so you should be used to it by now. Wear a coat and scream and jump around as much as possible to stay warm.

Let's prove that ISU fans can be BIG TIME football fans and show up for every game, even when it's cold, and even if it's almost Thanksgiving.

Re: What's the vibe on campus?

I think it'd be pretty cool to see a promo of some kind to convince a few on-the-fence students to stick around an extra night.

I wouldn't put it past the athletics department to have a lil' sumthin' sumthin' up their sleeve that weekend.

I'm excited for that game already.
