Well, a cold, windy game gives us an advantage. Add in snow and things could get really interesting.

I agree it is not nearly as large but when you count all the performers, directors, parents, grandparents, siblings. It adds up fast, probably 5-10k.

5 of 7 home games at night? Says we're ok but not ready to be on broadcast TV or national ESPN feeds yet. My wish for CPR and the team is that for future years we're good enough to consistently get those on ESPN during the daytime, instead of regional FSN coverage or FSC that almost no one has in their TV package (and we make no money from appearance fees on). I appreciate that the Clones are on TV, but looking forward to more 11AM and 2:30PM starts with CPR and the guys. Go State!

That event has been held in the evening at Hilton on the Saturday before Thanksgiving for all 70-odd years it's been in existence.

This football game got scheduled TODAY.

I understand the contractual obligation, but if the Athletics Department does not have a special plan for this, it could turn out to be a nightmare for everyone involved.

I'm not making any argument for which is more important - I don't think it's anyone's place to say that - but if one of the two events should get preference for the evening time slot, I've got to say the All-State festival. That's not to say they both can't happen as long as there is a plan.

A high school music festival??? Come on. There are many arguments against this start time, but a high school music festival should have no bearing on a D1 college football game.

It was held at Hilton in 1950? Amazing, considering it wasn't open until 1971.

The game was scheduled four years ago, when the Big 12 released the conference schedules. The kickoff time was announced today.

ISU football will take priority. The parking lots north of Center Drive (B1/B2/C1/C2) are general public for football. Chances are those lots will be for All-State people. Everyone else can park at MWL and walk across the street.

I don't care what the weather is like. I woke up lying on the bleachers in the student section at half time of an Iowa-ISU game with it pouring rain. I went to the Okie State-ISU game with Barry Sanders when it was bone chilling cold. I even went in the Colorado-ISU game in near blizzard conditions. Say what you want, all you pansie so called ISU that won't come to the game because it's too cold.. are not true fans, you are fair weather fans!!

    Colorado. The infamous Snow Bowl.

It was so bad they basically threw open the gates and said, "If you can get to Ames, come on in." Fans moved up and down the sections as the ball moved up and down the field. The brushes (or "ice polishers") used to clear the field also removed some of the paint marking the yard lines. The ball occasionally started rolling from a dead stop thanks to the wind and astroturf.

Didn't stop those that made it from having a good time, though.

Re: Mizzou game to Kickoff @ 6pm, televised on FSN.

What I think is odd is how good the attendance was in both of Chizik's seasons. Rhoads comes around and wins a few, and our fanbase goes out of their way to find weak reasons to miss games. I don't get it. Kids get tired? Babysitter. It's too cold? More clothes. This senior class has busted their balls for 4-5 years, and our fans won't show up for them because it's too cold. ******* *******. That last sentence rhymed with "trucking wussies", FYI.

In 1984, I was hospitalized for approaching perfection.

The event has not always been held in Hilton. But it has ALWAYS been held the Saturday evening before Thanksgiving. Hilton has been scheduled for this event by the Iowa State Athletic Department. They are getting $15 per head. It is a pretty big deal. They will have both events but it will be a pretty chaotic evening as far as traffic and parking IMO.

That game was Colorado vs the Clones, played for the most part in a blizzard. I was in marching band and it was my last game. They gave the band the option that we didn't have to show if we didn't want to, but I still came because it was my last game. Had to keep all my stuff from the dorms in the car because they closed those up for the break that morning. We played the game with less than half of the band, with space heaters out for trying to keep warm.

I had a spray bottle with Everclear to spray on my trombone slide to keep it from freezing in the cold. We marched on the field and played but didn't march the program because half the band was gone and you couldn't see the lines on the field. After the band was on, they brought out one of the John Deere carts with the brushes on it and did the lines and endzones for the second half. The blizzard died down some for the second half, and wasn't as bad, though very cold.

The Clones fought hard that day but lost by a TD. I had not been as proud of the team in a loss until last weekend's game, the FSU game that Seneca almost brought the team back in notwithstanding.
