Thread title = fail. Though at least you put the astrik...

EDIT: Since merely stating that the thread is a fail makes the post a fail, I'll elaborate.

There is no new conclusive information stating that he has in fact been fired, or any decision has been made to this effect, just more speculation that it is likely.

As this thread title was constructed to state that he had been fired as a matter of fact, it is misleading and therefore earned the "Fail" statement.

Though as previously said, at least you put the astrik there

I really hope that they don't make a coaching change this week. The last thing I want to see is a re-energized CU rallying around an interim coach with an us against the world attitude and taking it as a 3 game season. CU is a team with more than enough talent to beat us, and a home field that has killed us over the years. I don't want anything to rock the boat. They can fire everyone on Sunday after we get win number 6.

What is the point of keeping him? Make the announcement and get started finding the next coach.

Typically I would agree, but when the starting QB is the head coach's son, then things get dicey. Would Cody Hawkins finish out his Senior season if the university fired his dad? If he did, how motivated would he actually be? If he decided to walk with his dad, that would leave a true Freshman QB without a snap of college experience to face ISU. It's definitely an interesting storyline.

I completely agree with this. Whatever discension in the ranks exists I would think a good portion of that may go away with Hawkins' exit. Sure, they might be less organized if he leaves midweek, but I would rather play an organized and uninspired team than visa-versa.

I still would like to see a video of that 12 minutes! How is it even possible? CU is capable of beating us, so I hope that we take this game seriously.

Exactly, play calling we can plan for and coaches who's tendencies we udnerstand are important for Saturday. We need win number six and since our talent is similar it is all going to come down to excecution and coaching.

We need to score a couple touchdowns in the first quarter to go up and I think Colorado will just curl up and want to go home at that point.

Re: Hawkins - Fired (Almost) *

Hope they keep the Hawk on until at least after the game Saturday. They're more liable to come out flat playing for a lame duck. If he's gone, they could come out loose, with a nothing-to-lose attitude.

We need any advantage we can playing in Boulder.

I heard it was because Cody is the only healthy QB they don't have redshirted.

Re: Hawkins - Fired (Almost) *

What is the point in firing him now? Any coach worth getting is still coaching for a bowl and won't want to actively entertain interviewing for a job right now. The season is over for the Buffs anyway, what does it matter if Hawkins finishes the season? Let him finish it out, fire him and in the process they can start putting together a list of prospects to replace Hawkins. Normally I would view this as a little shady, but at this point Hawkins should just be happy he has already been fired.

Wouldn't spelling the work Asterisk as "astrik" which I would pronounce as '*** TRICK' also = fail??

I haven't seen any video or read any articles, but how did they score that many points in a short amount of time? Were there punts run back, a pick six or what? I can't imagine that they are all offensive scores.

Re: Hawkins - Fired (Almost) *

This is not the first game CU has held a large lead only to lose it in the end. The ISU-CU game from '07 is a vivid memory of such. CU came in with an excellent game plan against us - completely double-cover Blythe.

They shut us out in the first half, only to go away from that plan in the 2nd half and we shredded them with big plays to #1 - went onto win.

IMO, Hawkins should not have only been fired after that game, but he should not have even been allowed to take the university charter back to Boulder.

Hawkins definitely has a "hey, this is really working, lets stop doing it" mentality ever since he arrived in Boulder.

I liken Hawkins to McDermott. IMO, a really good coach - at a certain level. Can take a smaller program and build them up against other smaller teams, while knocking off someone now and then. But when asked to rebuild a program at a bigger university in a BCS conference - can't do it.
