Shatel column on NU escaping with the win

Iowa State had the guy open. But Rhoads had Daniel Kuehl, a backup punter and the holder on the point-after team, throwing the money pass in a pivotal Big 12 North game.
Kuehl floated it. NU's Eric Hagg stepped in and made the game-saving pick. And a load of big people in white jerseys and red pants sprinted to the locker room with smiles and smirks before anyone could change the result.

There you go. NU players deserved to smirk. They WON the game, escaping with the win on OUR field. They won the last time these teams will meet. End of an era, and they get the last laugh. Thank you, Paul Rhoads.

They say country music speaks to the heart. Unfortunately, it has to go through your ears to get there.

He obviously wasn't there because the Nebby players sprinted onto the field like they just beat a top 10 team instead of being a top 10 team. We will meet again in a bowl game - former conference mates playing in a bowl game - way too many story lines for that not to happen.

I bolded the one sentence of the original post that I completely 100% agree with.

Re: Shatel column on NU escaping with the win

We are pretty happy with the job Paul Rhoads has done in Ames. Before the game if you would have told me that we will have a chance to win the game on one play against the 7th ranked BCS team I would have taken it in a heart beat. The Huskers made a great play but had to make that play to win by 1 point against a team that EVERYONE had picked dead last in the B12.

In the span of 2 years here CPR is 1-1 against the Huskers with the point differential of those 2 games being 1 point.

So yes THANK YOU, PAUL RHOADS.
