    ESPN3 to HDTV quality?

Since there is no ABC/ESPN mirror, being in PA I am forced to watch tomorrows game on ESPN3, I have a 42" plasma and my wifes laptop has an HDMI out. What kind of quality can I expect from that setup?

Depends on your Internet speed and your computer. On the Xbox, with 15 mb, I would say it looked to be 720p with some pixelation.

I watched some of the games a couple weeks ago on my xbox and they did not look good at all... but that just might have been due to the actual broadcasts

How did you watch them? They just added ESPN3 to Xbox Monday. I watched through playon before that and it wasn't as good.

I watched the Rutgers - South Florida game on my XBox to see what the quality would look like. It was very poor to start out, but after awhile the signal slowly gained a more "broadcast-like" image - about 720p with some frame-rate issues. If a big play happens, don't be surprised if the visual comes in choppy. The audio is spot on, but plays with a lot of action tend to cause breaks in the image.

Loving ESPN3 on the new Xbox update. Very nice and is much better than even when I use my laptop and HDMI cable.

    Re: ESPN3 to HDTV quality?

I watched the Va-Tech-Ga Tech game last night by hooking up my laptop with an HDMI cord to my tv and I thought it looked really good. When the laptop at optimal resolution, it showed a good but smaller picture on the tv, but when I switched the resolution on the laptop to 720, it stretched out the picture and looked comparable to when I would watch MLB games using a ps3. Definitely depends on your internet speed though for smooth running.

I was not as good when I had it on DSL. I think you need at least 5 Mbs for live games to get HD.

I watched the nebraska/okie st game, and it was pretty rough quality wise the entire time, but again it might have just been the broadcast.

On the plus side, the first game i watched was the very beginning of the iowa vs arizona game, and that was crystal clear (of course it wasn't live, though).

Unfortunately, being a Bronco fan in PA precludes me from switching to Comcast from DirectTV and no Sunday Ticket, and $ wise I can't afford the higher cost of cable internet right now.
