Ch 13 had a story on it. Kinda interesting.

My wife commented that Alex Thompson did not look like a college guy, looked like an older guy. He has really bulked up.

I saw Thompson yesterday outside Cocost, he does look a lot bigger.

Coca-Cola won the championship (Corey Johnson's team). Kind of surprising since Johnson is the team's only (experienced/current) Cyclone. Sounds like Drake's Young led the team...

All the Cyclone players played awesome and carried their teams for the other players involved from other teams. Iowa State players looked the bestest ever.

No I was not there to see the games, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.........

    Thanks...

I went to a couple of games earlier in the summer. Coca-cola was one of the few teams that seemed to pass the ball (relative to the other teams). Corey J. always seemed to hustle. To bad Erik Crawford can't play this fall. Did Byran Peterson play the point for Coca-cola last night?
Who did they play in the Championship?

Josh Young played point for Coca-Cola....I think Peterson started with him and Eric Crawford in a 3-guard line-up.

They played Gratias (Hubalak, Thompson) for the championship.

Re: Any Updates on Capital City League?

I went to the first two games and skipped out for the championship. It was nice seeing that Taylor showed up to at least cheer on his teammates. None of my original thoughts have changed much with these guys. Haluska is just plain impressive. He gets up when he shoots and seems to hover and can adjust and shoot. Haluska and Boozer are both the definition of Blue Collar as they work there *** off. Boozer hit quite a few threes and hit one just inside half court at the buzzer. He has lots of energy and confidence. Wesley played the worst I have ever seen him play. He didn't seem to care and would loft up soft shots and had several thrown. Jiri and Alex played average and Alex just didn't seem to be putting out the effort. Diante has moves and I can't wait to see him put it all out during the season. Brister still does not impress as he always looks to dish and never takes it to the hoop or takes shots because he doesn't have much of one. But yes Corey Johnson's Coca-Cola team won by like 7 in the semis to play Gratias who had a lead the whole game. Uneventful night which is why I took off rather than staying there past 10.

When I went to the games, Taylor stayed for all three sessions and rooted on the other guys.

And DUBulldog, I went to you guys' board to see your take on the games, and you Drake guys love to rip Hubalek. I just think it's hilarious.

I like Hubalek's game....a lot. I don't like his attitude. Probably looks different through Cardinal and Gold colored glasses than through Blue and White ones.

I wish you guys well during the season.....Lord knows I give enough money to Iowa State every year (my son is a student there).

Josh Young is an amazing PG. He would start at ISU in a heartbeat. Wish we had him.

He played almost exclusively the '2' last season. It will be interesting to see if Keno tries him at the point, or keeps him at the 2.

Who do you see starting at the point for ISU this year? Based on what I saw in summer league, Garrett would be my #1 choice.....I just don't know if he's strong enough to handle the physical grind of the Big 12 schedule.

Re: Any Updates on Capital City League?

I think Garrett will be the hands down starter, but I think we'll see a lot of rotation there which is why I think we'll still be a bubble team that just misses the tourney.

And yes, I thought Jiri's attitude sucked during the CCL. But I also thought Nick Grant was just as bad, and I just think it's funny that they beat up Hubalek and didn't happen to mention Grant.

That's basically what everyone here thinks also. But we should have enough gaurds to keep him fresh. Yes, we wish he would bulk up a little, but hopefully he'll work out anyway

Re: Any Updates on Capital City League?

I went to the games and stayed for all three. The first game was won by CJ, Young, and Crawfords team over Wes and Huluskas team. Coke was in control of the game for the whole game altho it wasnt that big of win (7 points i think). CJ played well and had some incredible post moves i wish he was 4 inches taller. Young(drake guard and all time Oklahoma high school leading scorer) was amazing. He can flat out score the rock. Crawford played a solid all around game. He looked like a coach out there. Wes didnt play his best game but still prob. had a double double. Haluska shot everytime he touched the ball and didnt make to many of them.

The second game was Boozer vs. Garret, Jiri, and thompson. Boozer looked good. he plays with alot of energy and was a leader for his team cheering them on against a team with a lot more talent. Garret looked ok in the first game. He got to the rim alot but didnt always make his close in shots. Jiri was not in a good mood yest. for some reason. he got in to a shouting match with A.J. Calvin from Drake. He also got mad at the refs alot in the two games. Thompson looked ok in the post. I think he tries to play on the premiter to much tho. Garretts team won and was up the whole game but couldnt blow them out. I think it ended up around 15 but was around 6 to 10 point game for most of the game.

The championship game was a more intense then any of the other games i went to. The refs also called alot of fouls. Jiri had 6 fouls a little into the second half. He also threw a guy down on a jump ball in the first half and his coached benched him for a while. If Garrett doesnt score at least 20 prob closer to 30 in the first half his team loses by a bunch. He was on fire and even hit a couple of 3's. He also got to the line alot but struggled from the line. Thompson tought that he was the point gaurd some and tried to take Crawford off the dribble. He got picked quite abit trying to drive the lane but did knock down a couple of jumpers. CJ was good again and dominated who ever gaurded him (usually Thompson or Jiri). Crawford ran his team well and Young shot the ball really well again. Peterson looked scared when the other team turned up the heat on him. Coke won by about 15.
