    Gary Sheffield is something else....

I am not a huge fan of professional sports for one main reason....most of the "athletes" that make up the pros are just a bunch of overpaid, whining, ego-inflated tough guys. Gary Sheffield is definitely proving this generalization recently.

I think his whining does a disservice to the cause of racial discrimination. I will venture a guess that a talented black man, who is struggling to make ends meet, because he can't get the chance to prove himself at a higher level, may not sympathize with him.

A lot of people may not like Gary Sheffield and I'm by no means a huge fan of him but whether you like him or not one thing he has always done is told the truth. I know he whines and complains but he always has had legit reasons and has told it how it was.

It's too bad Derek Jeter isn't black enough for him.

I'm glad he told us where steroids go. Very informative.

This was an article that appeared on ESPN after his remarks earlier this season. It is definitely still applicable.

Haha. Exactly! This guy speaks out but mostly what he says is so full of crap it gets old hearing. If he just shut his mouth and played, people would know him more for how great a hitter he is, then the garbage coming out of his mouth

sorry, but that statement is W-R-O-N-G - WRONG. Most? not even close, most professional athletes are not huge whiners or huge ego-inflated tough guys...most are everyday type of people who are paid more than you and me (probably) and are just unbelievable athletes. There is a small percent that seem to give the rest of the whole a bad name in pro athletics, people such as Sheffield, T.O., Barry Bonds, Pacman Jones, Ron Artest, etc...But these type of "pros" definitely do not make up the majority and we only believe so because these are the people that the media report on the most (usually about negative things.)
