Who has more running yards Saturday: Nebraska or ISU?

Both teams have been bad against the run, but we have been without Taufoou since the first half of the Iowa game and I believe he is our best run stopper. Just not sure at this point, NU will have Martin back after serving his one game suspension, but may be without their best LB in Denard.

    Isn't Dennard a CB?

Re: Who has more running yards Saturday: Nebraska or ISU?

I fully expect Nebraska to have more rushing yards. The bigger question is who fumbles the ball and who scores touchdowns?

If we can force 3 or 4 Nebraska fumbles and also stiffen up in the redzone to hold Nebraska to field goals, I think Iowa State can win this game. We must score touchdowns when we get into the redzone.

may not be far off. i hope not, but they are good. i belive they have a top 10 rush offense, and we are ranked below 70 in rush defense i think.. so doesnt mean that it will happen, but its not a stretch.

350 is a lot of yards, but Helu went 300+ on a defense that's probably quite a bit better than ours. I still think I'd take the under on 350 though.

Is it really that difficult of a question to understand? ISU has rushed for over 200 yards 2 weeks in a row, with one of those being against Texas. Nebraska's main running threat, Taylor Martinez, has a ankle sprain and is questionable this weekend. Even if he plays it is doubtful he will be able to run/cut at full strength. I could see ISU putting 8 or 9 in the box and making the QB beat them through the air.

Whoever has more rushing yards will win the game. If they run over us we're dead. If we force them to pass we've got a really good shot. On the other side of teh ball, a solid running game on our end will allow us to drag out the clock and keep our Defense off the field. We win a low scoring game, they win a high scoring one.

Please don't pump him up more then is real....

Last year same guy had 9 rushes for 24 yards against us....

Secondly, i know he looked great against Missouri, but, you take the missouri game out of the equation and his numbers are actually below Arobs. Lets not put him on a pedestal because of his 307....there could be a lot of factors in that inflated number - especially defensive schemes and the injury to Martinez. I'm far more worried about Martinez hurting us then i am Helu....

If i were Nebby, i would throw the crossing routes over and over until i get to the red zone. Then i would run it right at us, do not go lateral, man on man and right at us.

Also, dont under estimate the power of using that fact against our OL and RB telling them that everyone thinks that Big Reds rushing attack is so much better then ours....are you going to do anything about it or not?

The health of Martinez is the number 1 factor for this game. If he's healthy, it will be hard to stop them - period. They will score, its a matter of how many and can our Offense make enough plays to stay with them let alone beat them.

I would love to see a few offensive wrinkles this week - especially a gadget play or two.....our offense is so vanilla....its primetime baby, time to put out some flare!!!!

Nebraska averages almost 300 rushing yards a game and Iowa State run defense is rated 99 in the country. 350+ is not out of the question. Having said that, I doubt Nebraska will rush for 350+, especially if Martinez is injured.

A few other notes. Eric Martin will be back, but he rarely plays on defense. He is mainly a special teams player. Dennard is a CB not a LB.

I wasn't really pumping anyone up, just stating the fact that 1 player had over 300 yards by himself against a defense that is, statistically, superior to ours.

By the way, if you don't think Helu is a quality RB, then I don't know what to tell you. And how are his numbers, minus Mizzou, lower than Robinson's?Yards/game doesn't really mean anything because he's sharing carries with Martinez and Burkhead. Even if you take out the Mizzou game stats, he has 74 carries for 500 yards, or 6.76 YPC. For comparison:

    R. Helu (minus Mizzou) - 6.76
    A Rob - 5.33
    Kendall Hunter - 6.21 YPC
    Jay Finley - 6.78
    Daniel Thomas - 5.08
    Demarco Murray - 4.35

Listen, I hate Nebraska just as much as any other ISU fan, but let's be rational here.
