    Christian group disrupts Senate prayer

For the first time in history, a Hindu today delivered the Senate’s morning invocation. But three protestors belonging to the Christian Right anti-abortion group Operation Save America loudly interrupted the invocation, stating, “Lord Jesus, forgive us Father for allowing a prayer of the wicked, which is an abomination in your sight.”
    See the video at [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QbMtpUPFPoo"]YouTube[/ame].

Since the Pope says they are going to hell anyway, I'm guessing this group is headed to the Vatican to yell at the Pope next.

This whole world is going to crumble because of this stuff. A huge holy war just because people cant just chill out, crack open a few beers and tolerate each other.

I guess that's one way to act Christian...

Seriously though, the true abominations in that room were the hecklers.

But if every Tom, Dick, and Harry were just fundamentalist Christians, we wouldn't have to resort to toleration of other religions in the first place!

Why is a Hindu wicked? Do you think Jesus would say such a thing about a group of people? I think not. The fundy's do alot of things in Jesus's name out of personal gain or ignorance.

He led a secular prayer. How is damning another person, presumably because he was hindu, regardless of his personal faith, standing up for Jesus?

I thought it was very distasteful. I appreciate their strong beliefs, and feeling that they need to stand up for them, but they went about it in a completely inappropriate way. I expect to be given respect for my religious views. I expect others to receive the same.

"Why is a Hindu wicked? Do you think Jesus would say such a thing about a group of people? I think not. The fundy's do alot of things in Jesus's name out of person gain or ignorance."

    See Luke chpt 13.

A tower fell on some Jews and some others were being killed and those who were with Jesus asked him..."Were they more sinful than the rest of us...Jesus says "NO, but unless you repent, you likewise will perish."

It's not any easy message, nor is it something I particularly enjoy telling...but it's what the Savior said and what he eventually gave his life's blood for.

I have no personal gain in any of this, FWIW.

Re: Christian group disrupts Senate prayer

This is EXACTLY why christians make me so mad. Some of them act no better than the islam nutjobs, but it is all OK to everyone because they are on the same "side."

And this is coming from our elected officials, I would like to know who the heckler was so we can publicly flog him/her.

Question about that verse, I interpret about repenting sins, isn't that what he's saying?

Re: Christian group disrupts Senate prayer

I fail to see where that quote bashes other beliefs. To me it seems to say that you need to repent your sins. Being a Hindu is not a sin. Being a Hindu committing a sin is a sin. I strongly believe that if you live a moral life and live by the golden rule you will not be judged. If a person were to grow up in the wilderness, to never know of God, but treats others with kindness and compassion will that person be condemned? I have often thought about that with the tribes in the rainforests who have never been seen by Christian missionaries and such.

"Anyone who has read the Gospels thoroughly knows that Jesus has patience and forgiveness with just about anybody but hypocrites and people who are quick to judge others. " -taken from some website

    What about this one?

"Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it." Mathew 7:13.

I think the afterlife is worse for those that know of ****** but deny him then those that never knew of him. Just my opinion, I really don't know.

I agree with that. Im sure the fundy's will tell you that ignorance is no excuse and those who dont know of him will perish. I have a hard time digesting that God is harsh and not understanding of the lives he created and the situation in which they were born into.
