    Preseason vs standings

Preseason Media Prediction (Current in parentheses)

    North Division

    1. Nebraska (Nebraska)
    2. Missouri (Missouri)
    3. Kansas State (Iowa State)
    4. Kansas (Kansas State)
    5. Colorado (Colorado)
    6. Iowa State (Kansas)

    South Division

    1. Oklahoma (Baylor)
    2. Texas (Oklahoma)
    3. Texas A&M (Oklahoma State)
    4. Texas Tech (Texas A&M)
    5. Oklahoma State (Texas)
    6. Baylor (Texas Tech)

What does this prove to me, the media has no balls. They predict based on past performance and it has nothing to do with reality. They also have no faith in ISU, guess what, ISU will likely finish no worse than 3rd in the North in a year where we were picked for last (oh and that wasn't just last in the North that was last in the conference). BTW- ISU is currently 6th in the conference by the standings!

I'm ok with them doing that, it makes us look better.

I agree with your point, but there are still three more league games to go, so those standings can still move around a whole bunch before the end of the season.

In their defense, the best predictor of the future is past performance.... Can't really blame them... Plus it does make us look better.

    Re: Preseason vs standings

I think when you look at those standings, how may people at the beginning of the year thought we were going to beat Texas and Texas Tech? Not many. When I read all of our pre-season stuff, they basically said we were going to have a better team, but our record was not going to show it because of the top level competition we were going up against. Since then things have changed a little, Tech is struggling and Texas is having problems with their team (I still think they are a good team, they are just not focused). Everyone should have seen the Kansas thing though. In short, our team has been competitive with the teams that are close to us and have beaten a few of them as well. KSU, Tech, Texas, A&M and Iowa State are in a comparable group together this season, and we have done well against competition similar to us.

    Re: Preseason vs standings

It's still mathematically possible to finish sixth, although a win over CU guarantees no worse than fourth.

Those preseason guesses didn't surprise me too much, but when I looked at each team's schedule and where games were being played, I was almost certain both KU and CU were not going to finish above ISU. I didn't quite understand the logic.

    I guessed:
    Nebraska
    Mizzou
    KSU
    ISU (basically 3rd-place tie)
    KU
    CU

Things could shake out pretty close to this.

I won't tell you how I ranked the South ... if the season ended today, mine would be highly inaccurate.
