    That flopping Kansas punter...

Anybody else notice the Kansas punter after the roughing the kicker call in the 3rd? I don't disagree with the call. He just lay on the ground writhing in fake agony for the entire play. I thought I was watching soccer. Then he got up and grabbed his hamstring like it was hurt, but walked normally off the field.
Everybody was booing and then he taunted the fans behind the bench. Some fan must of said something. I found the whole deal pretty amusing.

He got nailed. All punters/kickers milk it the best they can to get that call because it's an automatic first down. IMO he was a tad gimpy leaving the field. Probably hurt at first and went away as he walked it off.

He was definitely hit and the PF was the right call. But you're right, he seemed to go a bit overboard in trying to sell it even after he had gotten the call.

Not sure if I agreed with the call to go after the punt there, either. I'm sure the reasoning was that our defense was having their way with KU in the third quarter so they may as well take the chance.

He got hit and milked it like it was a soccer game. I can't fault him, it was pretty hilarious to see actually. I was expecting our guy to get a red card.

he laid there curled up in a ball rocking back and forth; looked like a 2 yr old that just got his blanky taken away. saying he milked it would be an understatement.

He definitely got hit, but I'd hope our punter would do the same thing.

You mean milked it like basketball players do 30-60 times a game flying backwards trying to draw charges or flailing their arms around after shots?

Or do you mean milking it like catchers move balls into the strike zone to try to lie that a ball is really a strike?

Funny how in baseball and basketball it's "part of the game" but in soccer and football it's flopping. I've always wondered why the double standard. Clearly there's more flopping in soccer than American football, but there is more faking and lying in baseball and basketball than most soccer games, I'd say a difference of 20-30 times a game compared to 30-90 times a game.

After that extreme overacting a couple of the people in the group I was with commented on the name and wondered if he might have been a former soccer player. Had to check to see for sure.

Because basketball players that flop get right back up and play, they don't lie on the ground crying like a little girl.

I wouldn't say flopping is a part of any game and it's regular occurance in the NBA is why people don't take it seriously.

Yes he milked it, but he got the flag right away, it wasn't like he had to really sell it.

And I don't think "flopping" is any more prevalent in baseball in any other sport. And it's definitely not more blatant than it is in soccer.

I wasn't meaning flopping in baseball as in flying to the ground or flailing arms like basketball players do, but the framing of pitches. Catchers move pitches toward the center of the strike zone on a majority of pitches. If you get past "traditions" its the same thing as flopping, it's trying to lie about what really happened in order to get an advantage.

Baseball is about as dishonest a sport as you can get, framing pitches, steroids, pine tar, doctoring the ball, corked bats, etc. I'm an honest person, lying is lying. I don't get why some kinds of lying are less manly than others, it's all lying and/or cheating.

Anyone who has played both soccer and basketball knows there's nothing less tough or more dishonest about soccer. Basketball's a freaking walk in the park compared to soccer. It's clueless people who perpetuate the myth of it not being a tough sport. There's a lot less flopping/dishonesty in American football than either of those sports, but the holier than though attitude of American basketball/baseball fans toward soccer as a pansy sport is just loaded with massive ignorance.
