    Question Murder Mystery Party

So my wife and I are hosting our first murder mystery party for Halloween this year. Just wondering if anyone has suggestions for making it go as smoothly as possible, or anything that we must do / not do for hosting this?

My only advice is to not actually murder anyone. Learned that the hard way...

    Re: Murder Mystery Party

My daughter bought a package from some online company. It was $25 or so, but it had all the actors, what they should wear and all the lines. Kind of canned but they had fun with it.

Au contraire mon ami. A real murder is the only way to ensure a realistic experience. Just make sure you leave the plastic on the furniture prior to said action.

Invite people who are good sports and will get into it. We did it a couple years ago and had a blast showing up in costume and in character. Mix in a few drinks, good food and it will be fun.

But, since it's a murder mystery party, you're inviting people to discover what you've done. In fact, that's the whole point of the party. Really, it's a disaster just waiting to happen. If you MUST murder, I prefer to have a homeless person murder a cornhusker fan, that way everybody's happy.

    This.

Did one several years ago, we had a blast. Follow the rules/instructions of the game and don't deviate. We created a menu based on the time period of the murder mystery and then did a potluck and had drinks. People got very into their costumes and characters, it was hilarious.
