    NBA lockout

Might just be big talk from Stern, but right now they are discussing a 30% reduction in salaries, possible contraction of teams, and no guaranteed contracts.

David Stern: NBA wants player salaries cut by a third - ESPN

I think all of these things will likely be good for the league. Doesn't have a ton of impact on us this season, but we have plenty of Big 12 rivals who have several NBA players on their rosters who will have to stay in school most likely.

I don't know how any players association can agree to non guaranteed contracts... Why even call it a 'contract' if one side holds all the power?

    Re: NBA lockout

I signed a contract when I got hired at my job but I could be fired at any moment as Iowa is a right to work state. I guess contract may not be the best term but the NBA is probably the worst league when it comes to guys having a big postseason, getting a contract, and loafing.

    Re: NBA lockout

They need to work out some type of compromise on the contract thing. Maybe for every contract there's a team option for the last year of it. They need to make some type of tweak because the horrible contracts have ruined certain teams being held hostage by guys like Eddy Curry making big money, yet sucking/not being able to play.

The 30 percent salary reduction is BS. Maybe 10 percent at most is necessary. The superstars are paid fairly (IMO) but too many guys like Drew Gooden making 32 mil for 5 years is out of hand. Gooden is basically a 8th man on a good roster. He should be making about 3 or 3.5 mil a year.

Oh man, poor multimillionaires. Guess they're going to have to buy a Learjet 60 instead of a G6.

Yes. That is why people are cut at any time. We should call non- guaranteed contracts the Brian Cardinal Rule
