    Iowa Fans travel well?

I work with a Hawkeye season ticket holder. He has been crying abou tht eISU ticket situatio all summer. I reminded him yesterday that EIU has not sold their 4000 tickets yet and he could get one there. He told me he was proud to not give Jamie Pollard his $90. My thought is this: I'm sure the kids on th eUniversity of Iowa football team will feelgood to know that their "wonderful traveling fans" won't pay an extra $30 over 2 years ago to come see them play in one of their biggest games of the year. Maybe Iowa fans remember the last time they were in Ames. That was kind of like stepping on baby chicks. Too easy!!

    Re: Iowa Fans travel well?

I really don't get what all the complaining is about. I am a NCC member and season ticket holder, and I was not able to buy tickets to iowa vs. ISU last year through the Iowa State alotment and couldn't buy single game tickets otherwise. The only way I could have got a ticket for that game is to buy one of their season tickets.

I can see why some might complain that the tickets are $90, but I'm sure scalpers have had no problem commanding that price for tickets in the past. Having that ticket being so expensive just makes buying a whole season ticket more attractive.

They'll sell those 4000 tickets out I'm sure. And it's stupid to say you won't give JP that $90 because if you really want to go to the game you will have to buy them off someone else and I'm sure you'll have to pay more than $90.

Look, this is all about commerce. Pollard set a price. Time will tell if the free market accepts the price. It is nothing more than that. If the Hawks don't "buy in" the Pollard will need to evaluate his decision for '09. It is supply and demand at its most elemental form.

As far as depth goes though, the combination of White, Woodbury, Olaseni, Basabe, and Uthoff is much better than Niang, Ejim, Edozie, Gibson. Not because of the top 2, but because of the next 2 or 3. -DeanVogs

Again, I can't wait until September 16th, the day the Iowa game will be behind us.

You don't really think the Hawkeyes will put this behind them on September 16th or any day after that do you?

We'll be hearing about this for at least all of JP's tenure just like the billboard.

No kidding. Who does he think he's been giving money to for EVERY ISU/iowa game he's seen in Ames? Whether it's been to a scalper or an ISU season ticket holder, that ticket was bought from ISU.

I'd call the iowa ticket office and try to buy some of those $90 ticket (that will be MUCH less than scalpers charge), but I don't want my friends to have to sit in the middle of those idiots.

Also the day Marty eats his crow for stating that he's going to the ISU ticket office the morning of the game and buying two single-game tickets.

The guy just doesn't get it...You are not getting into this game without buying a season ticket. Only exceptions are tent sales and Iowa's 4,000 allotment.

I called yesterday and they were sold out.

Iowa has already sold out Soldier Field for their opening game.

Youberite...The squawks will cry and bleat about this injustice for the next twenty years or so!

If I had My Way I would put an additional one hundred dollar stadium surcharge onto the allotment of 4000 tickets.

Doesn't Iowa get a percentage of the gate for this game anyways, so it would be better for them to sell more tickets.

    Re: Iowa Fans travel well?

Just to restate it, since everyone seems to have missed it:

Iowa's office has sold out their allotment of 4,000 tickets. It happened yesterday morning. Use it to support whatever argument you wish, but it's true. I called their ticket office and was told the same thing.

    True and Valiant

I also remember a game with Kansas when Cy (wore a huge suit then) went out to center field, squatted, and "pooped" a couple of chickens that had been dyed blue then chased them around.

Actually it would be in ISU's best interest if Iowa State fans either bought up the Iowa Allotment or bought them and gave them away to other ISU fans. It would be great to deplete the Iowa fans of a concentrated section.
