    Could Rhoads leave?

So i was reading an espn insiders article, and the writer seems to think with Pitt struggling and ISU winning that Rhoads could split to take a head coaching job at Pitt if they fire their coach.

Does anyone think that this could happen to us again?

    Re: Could Rhoads leave?

    There's no real telling.

I think it's earlier than CPR would leave, and his past history suggests that he doesn't just move around to move around.

No guarantees either way right now. Just enjoy the ride.

Chance CPR would leave after this year for Pitt job? 0.00000%

Chance CPR would ever leave? Can't dismiss it, but it wouldn't be for several years, after great success. I think we really have a better version of DMac 2.0 here. I could see him staying as his first and last HC gig. How it ends, who knows.

Ugh...why would you take a Big East job right now if you were already a BCS head coach?

    Re: Could Rhoads leave?

He would have to do what he thinks is best for his family! That is what counts most to him...or at least I hope it does. I am not worried about it though...but it if happened it would certainly be a downer for us!

    Re: Could Rhoads leave?

There are two reasons Paul won't leave. One his mother has alzheimers and two his father is getting up there in years. That is one of the real reasons he wanted the job so bad. To be close to them.

    Re: Could Rhoads leave?

Lets say you make $1 Million right now.
I offer you $3.5 Million in a really easy to recruit, nice weather, nice facility and tons of money university.

    What would you do?

The negative of going to a bigger program is you better win or you out. The pressure is huge. So may CPR will get a bigger contract with ISU and be happy coaching in his backyard.

Yup. That's why we need to find a way to pay the man what he'll be worth. The open market will eventually call, especially with the national attention he gets with these big road wins and locker room videos.

If a coach at ISU learned anything from DMac it is that they should at the least listen to offers from schools! After DMac had a 9 win season...he was at his all-time high point for cashing in...a few years later he gets "fired". Every coach should be willing to listen to other offers...

    The almighty dollar!!!

But I hope Rhoads would be better than that. He has it perfect in Ames. Its not like he is hurting for money.
I think part of his success so far has been because of his leadership and motivation that is a product of his passion to be at Iowa State. Would that same passion be there at Pitt?? I doubt it. Some coaches are successful in some places, but not in others. I hope Rhoads decides that he is in a special place, and its working. So stay put and enjoy it. Money isnt everything!!
