I agree, I was surprised by the lack of love in the rankings.

Its called getting curb stomped the last 2 weeks before Texas. Texas was a good win, albeit against a Texas team that is down, but Utah and Oklahoma were both BAD losses. Really bad.

So Iowa State should be ahead of Texas, who should be ahead of Nebraska, who should be ahead of Kansas State, who should be ahead of Iowa State, who should be behind Oklahoma, who should be behind Missouri,

I think we can all agree Kansas is in the right place.

But the writer pointed out the two beatdowns as the anchor for our resume.

Without the beatings, we'd be ahead. Either way, does the # make a big difference at that point in the rankings?

Just beat Kansas and take care of business.

Since we are an elite team now, let's go get that One Cyclone Moment.

    Re: Big 12 Power rankings

I think one of the comments on that page has it correct - it just shows how small the gap between 6-10 and how big the gap between 10 and 11 is in this conference. Keep in mind - the Big 12 could end up qualifying 10 teams for bowls this year - that's just insane.

I think that in today`s college football landscape, people will start to get the idea that margin of victory or loss is not a very good indicator of future performance. We have seen that time and time again. We are in a unique position with these boys, that with the proper execution the last 4 games could all be wins(including Mizzou).

    Re: Big 12 Power rankings

Huh, I didn't know Utah was in the Big 12. I suspect other teams don't have a beatdown by a top 10 BCS team because they didn't play a top 10 BCS team.

If our beatdown to Utah matters, why wouldn't UT getting whipped at home by UCLA matter, when we just beat UT on their own field?

Oh well, who gives a damn. Last I looked, ESPN power rankings mean diddly.

Yeah, to be honest I can't really complain about this. He isn't dissing on ISU here, we did get curb stomped the two weeks prior. I am sure if we win convincingly over Kansas and hold our own (or win) over Nebraska we'll start to move up.

    Re: Big 12 Power rankings

Tech has one quality win, and that's over Baylor. Their conference record is worse than ours. We beat them head to head.

    Yeah, makes perfect sense.

    Re: Big 12 Power rankings

Once Tech plays Oklahoma, we'll be in front of them.

And we may end up in front of Texas before its all said and done.

I'd put it this way, based on my perception of how good teams are right now:

    Missouri
    Nebraska
    Oklahoma
    Oklahoma State
    Texas A&M
    Baylor
    Kansas State
    Iowa State
    Texas
    Texas Tech
    Colorado
    Kansas
