    An amazing defensive line stat

Just did some calculating for my weekly report. I had to post this now.

In all seven games prior to yesterday, Iowa State's defense had recorded six sacks and five quarterback hurries/hits.

Yesterday, the Cyclones sacked Garrett Gilbert twice and had NINE hurries. Yes, that's right. Iowa State hurried the opposing quarterback four times more yesterday than they had in SEVEN previous games.

That really is unbelievable. I hope we get that same d-line the next four games!

Line play was the biggest reason we won the game yesterday. Lattimer made the d-line so much better.

Having had to miss yesterday's game on TV, did the D-Line do more stunting and blitzing than in the past?

Simply stunning. How could a Dline recruit not want to come here. Why risk not playing elsewhere, when you could come to ISU, play right away, and help push this team to the top?

9 hurries and 2 sacks by Jacob Lattimer. What a game he had. His pressure won that game.

Re: An amazing defensive line stat

Lattimer's play made everyone better. He forces the QB to step up before he's ready to throw or to leave the pocket earlier, it takes away the OL's blocking angles and sets DL free. Even when he didn't get direct pressure, he was often helping someone else get pressure.

Exaggeration is a BILLION times worse than understating.

Re: An amazing defensive line stat

The "Welcome Home" video had a close-up of Latt. It looks like that kid could put another 10-20 pounds pretty easily. At the very least, I do not think he has reached his strength/power potential at all. If had been at DE at ISU since being a FR, he would be a monster right now.

Re: An amazing defensive line stat

I don't know much about the Texas O-line but I assume they aren't bad (Texas has 4-5 star talent at every position) which is very encouraging for the rest of the year. I assume we won't see many o-lines that are tons better than Texas. Hopefully the good d-line play continues because it make the whole defense much better. I think we saw that especially with our secondary yesterday.

Lattimer is freaking stud. I've wanted him to play more all year. He plays at one speed, and it's full ******* blast!

There use to be a player at Nebby that played full out every play - Grant Wistrom. The wild hair just helps set the scene. He is relentless.
