    Elway's son looking at ISU?

Apparently, John Elway's son is looking at Iowa State. He's only a two-star recruit so I don't know if he's any good or not. I didn't know if anybody else knew about this or not. Here is the link and it is not premium content.

Gotta like the other schools of interest listed. We don't really need QB's, but who knows.

Don't need QB's? I don't care how good you think Meyer is or how good Arnaud or Bates MAY be but every team ALWAYS needs QB's...

Right now, it's the strength of our team by far. How bout plugging some of the holes that are flooding our team? Like the trenches, or any position outside of QB and WR. Elway would have no chance to play unless Bates was planned to be moved to defense. We need to add a QB in 09, and 2010, not this year IMO.

I'm with you on that cyclonepower! The thought of John Elway acknowledging the very existence of Iowa State University, let alone showing up in Ames for games, is enough to make me giddy like a schoolgirl!

From what I've heard, he's an okay QB but that's about the extent of it. Meyer and Arnaud are better QBs, but that of course is not to say Elway can't/won't get better.

Living in Denver, I hear quite a bit of news about him. He's still raw, but his arm strength is said to be comparable to what his dad's was at this stage of his development. Scouts seem to think that his upside is huge. None of his drawbacks are anything that some good coaching and a little more seasoning can't fix. Plus, it would be great exposure for the program to bring in a name like Elway. He's already got offers from Oregon and LSU, so obviously there's competition for his services, which makes me think that other programs see the value of bringing him on board.

hey just think what seeing john elway or even hearing the name john elway would do for recruiting

"Day after day, situation after situation you do things the right way. If you do things the right way, in life, you are going to be successful. I'm not just your football coach; I'm not just here to win games. I could not be prouder of who we are and who we are becoming, together. You do things right in the classroom, off and on the field; that's whats's makes us Cyclones and that's what our culture's all about."

I'm sure that would get the attention of receiver recruits... Even OL for that matter....

I'm and Elway fan... therefore I think it's sweet.

Hopefully he's good enough to earn an offer and accepts.

Re: Elway's son looking at ISU?

I see his 40 time is 4.8 so basically he's a statue back there. Hopefully we get some line play or else it could be trouble. I'm sure he could handle playing in the winds of Jack Trice in November, atleast.

If Meyer runs faster than a 4.8 at an NFL combine, I will be shocked.

Now I'm not the kind of guy to memorize statistics from the back of trading cards, so maybe I'm totally missing something here, but:

Running a 40 in 4.4 seconds is incredible, but running that same distance in four-tenths of a second longer is embarrassing? That makes no sense to me at all. Yes, I understand that plays can be made or broken by fractions of a second, but come on. Something tells me we could probably settle for someone who runs a 4.8. Who knows, we're in such awful shape we might even slum all the way down to a 4.9! We'd be the laughingstock of organized sports the world over for using what is essentially a cinderblock on the field, but hey. If it wins us games...

    True and Valiant

I also remember a game with Kansas when Cy (wore a huge suit then) went out to center field, squatted, and "pooped" a couple of chickens that had been dyed blue then chased them around.
