    Jake Lattimer story

Last night, Wally Burnham told me that he put together a Jake Lattimer highlight video that he showed the rest of the defense? Why? Because of the aggressiveness that Lattimer brings to the table. That's the main reason why he'll start on Saturday against Texas. Burnham seemed very high on Jake last night so that's something to be encouraged about for the future.

We all can see it. Latimer is the person who has stepped it up. He sells out every play. He is like a smaller sized college version of Jared Allen.

and no this doesn't get old

The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game: it's a part of our past, Ray. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again. Oh... people will come Ray. People will most definitely come.

    Great stuff Chris.

I really wish Lattimer could have come to ISU as freshman and been placed at DE. I think he could have been a Morehead type of player for us.

Can never have enough of this:

Defensively I have felt that we have put our players in position to succeed all year (except last weekend), so to have the coaches calling out the players and telling them that they need to step us is kind of refreshing.

A lot of Utah's plays were snuffed out with correct coaching calls but the execution by the players failed miserably.

Wally has been really ****** about anything that looks like quitting -- Even though everyone stayed in the game against OU, he is still very angry about Utah.

Great to hear Wally is fired up and willing to make changes to motivate the team.

Last night, I watched the Big 12 Replay of the Oklahoma game (because I was only able to listen to it on the radio). I was really impressed at how hard we worked on defense. Now, there were times that we were out of position, but I sensed that guys were really hustling. Lattimer and Klein really stood out. I got no sense that our defense was quitting, even though it had to be a very frustrating day.

That spirit will help us in future games.

    Re: Jake Lattimer story

I went back and watched the Lattimer fumble recovery several times. It was like somebody shot him out of a cannon and onto the screen. He comes flying in horizontal. Have to love the aggressiveness!!
