    Dallas/Ft. Worth Trip

In two weeks my wife and I are headed to Dallas/Ft. Worth for my wife's Mary Kay convention. All is not lost, however, as I get to be in a golf tournament (in which I'll be slaughtered ) and we're doing family vacation in a location I've never been. We're already going to a Rangers game (If you've got nothing better to do Wednesday July 25th and you have DirecTV with the MLB package tune into the Rangers game that nite and I'll be the guy wearing the white Nike "Every Yard For ISU" shirt and a backwards Rangers hat ), checking out the zoo, and we're thinking about doing one of the JFK historical tours. If anyone's got any "must sees" in Dallas and/or has any more info on the JFK, just let me know...

Bring an umbrella...it won't stop raining...

Since you are heading to the Rangers game, be sure to take a ride over to the adjacent Cowboys stadium site. It's a pretty impressive construction site, and there quite a bit going on now (plus, if you buy anything in Arlington, you'll be paying for part of it!)

The Aquarium at Fair Park iin Dallas is supposed to family friendly.

If you are into airplanes, the Cavanaugh Flight Museum in Addison has a nice collection of WWI - VietNam era military aircraft.

If your kids are real young, Nick Jr's Go, Diego Go Live! the Great Jaguar Rescue is playing at Nokia Theater in Grand Prairie, which is very nice venue. Drop the wife and kids off there, and then head yourself over to Lone Star Park, which is right next door, and play the ponies...or just head out to LoneStar Park for dinner. It a nice place.

If you want to head further west, there is all kinds of stuff to do in Ft. Worth...Stock yards, etc.

I don't remember from the threads here if you are a NASCAR/racing lover or hater, but regardless, Texas Motor Speedway is just a flippin impressive sight, just due to the immensity of the thing, but it's quite a drive from Dallas. Plus, if you head up north from Ft. Worth on I-35 towards TMS, you'll go by Alliance Airport. For a short while, I-35 lines up with the main Alliance runway, so you can look right down the runway. So if your timing is good, a big 747 cargo plane will be barreling down the runway right at you car.

There is a lot of good eating in Dallas, but it depends on what you are into. The zoo isn't bad. The JFK stuff is kind of cool. I never went on a tour there but checked it out 3 or 4 times. There is some cool stuff in Fort Worth if you are interested in that, and it isn't a far drive.

I really enjoyed just walking around in downtown Ft. Worth seeing different things. And I agree, the Texas Motor Speedway is amazing. Words won't do it justice.
