10-18 Depth Chart - Mix up on d-line

Iowa State just released its new depth chart for the Texas game.

Jake Lattimer is now listed ahead of Patrick Neal at left defensive end. There's also an "or" between Rashawn Parker and Roosevelt Maggit at right end. I'm sure that we'll get a Parker injury update later on today.

    Other Notes...

There' an "or" between Darius Darks and Josh Lenz at wide receiver. This isn't surprising considering the hit that Darks took on Saturday night.

Everything else looks pretty much the same.

Is Neal hurt? I haven't been real impressed by Lattimer, but then again I haven't been impressed by anyone on our D-line.

Does it really matter this week to be quite honest?

Could not disagree more about the Lattimore comment?? I personally think him and Maggitt bring more pressure than RP and Neal. I also think Lattimore has the best lateral speed against the run out of any of the ends...

Neal has been really bad against the run. He gets knocked back five yards alot. He also doesn't have any pash rush to speak of. I think the coaches have been thinking of doing this since they had Lattimer switch positions. They now believe he is ready for the spot. Hopefully this can light a fire under Neal too.

Not sure it really matters who we put in on Saturday, it's going to be another long day for the Clones

    Right on fellas.

It was just a matter of time imo. Lattimore has more natural size and quickness, and had he played DE for the past few years, would have been the starter for Game 1.
I actually think a year of getting bigger and experience at the spot and he could be sufficient.

I am waiting for our Dline to show more use of hands and moves. Right now it seems all we do is try to speed rush or bull rush- neither of which we have the physical ability for. I guess many of these guys are new to the position.

Can Neal move inside? For him to be most effective I think his spot has to be one of the tackles.

He gets blown off the ball on the outside- probably too small to go inside.

I've wondered if Rashawn was really able to fully heal from the knee injury. Obviously, I don't know, but he did seem like he was playing much differently (at least more effectively) before the injury.

Since we are an elite team now, let's go get that One Cyclone Moment.
Make this one for the ages!

He's 235 pounds... NO. I don't think he would even start for UNI, we are not going to mive him around to get him on the field.

I like the Lattimer move. He has impressed me the most of all the Defensive ends (I know, not saying much). He actually has the size and quickness to turn into a decent end as he gets more experience at the position.
