I realize that this doesn't include everything, but it's a pretty good indicator about how good our schedules were difficulty-wise each year. Of course, our opponents all play different teams each year and such, but it's a pretty rough estimate of how good they were IMO.

Obviously, we improved a LOT between 2008 and 2009. The combined record of our opponents in each year respectively had a 52% winning percentage, but we won 6 FBS games in 2009 against only 1 win against an FBS team in 2008. The one team we beat in 2008 had a 33% winning percentage (and that was against primarily MAC teams), and in 2009 the teams we beat had a combined 44% winning percentage.

In 2010, it's an entirely different animal. It's ridiculous, really. The combined winning percentage of teams we've played is now 81%, nearly a 30% increase (to date), and we've now beaten 2 FBS teams with a combined winning percentage of 62%, nearly a 20% increase from a year ago. The teams we lost to are a combined 22-2, good for a 92% winning percentage - which is just insane. In 2009, our losses were to teams that had a combined 59% winning percentage.

Of course, a lot of these numbers are going to fluctuate up and down (our combined opponents winning percentage will certainly fall), but all in all, this will most definitely be the most difficult schedule we've faced in years - and it's not going to be even close.

    Just some optimism, I guess.

Nice work. Showed a stat during game that our opponent winning percentage was .8 and next highest was .7

There was no reason for us not to go to a bowl in 2007. How do you beat Iowa, Kansas State, and Colorado but lose to Kent State, UNI, and Toledo? I believe this staff would have gotten the job done that year. Probably would have had us close in 2008 too. Look at how many close losses we had.

I don't think anyone was hoping for a win over OU - or Utah for that matter. It was the way we lost. Teams like Air Force have gone up and down the field on OU, and we can't even get 200 yards? Not even score?

See, this is what IS concerning. But I'm not surprised by the margin of losses. We have eleven players remaining from the 2007 and 2008 classes combined on the roster. Depth - or lack thereof - says hello.

Eleven combined from 2006 and 2007. Still a lot here from 2008.

It's a good and fair analysis and reason for optimism.

However, we shouldn't be losing by 50 to anyone.

Great we are competing with the teams that we should be and the teams that should be blowing us out are. Just right where we belong.
