We need to support Rhoads, no matter what

Really, if you think about it, Paul Rhoads may very well be our last hope.

ISU is in a very precarious situation right now. We have the lowest AD budget in the Big12, and are badly in need of facility upgrades just to even barely keep up with our peers in the conference. Now, add to this that we might be the ones in the conference most affected by Nebraska's defection to the Big Ten. Nebraska joining the Big Ten turns a large swath of territory -- from Lincoln, NE, east to University Park, PA -- into Big Ten Country. We'll be the lone Big12 outpost in that territory, a bit out of place. This is bound to have affects on attendance.

If Paul Rhoads does not work out, I don't think ANYONE will. If he can't turn our football program around, we have ZERO chance of finding someone who can. We wouldn't be able to pay enough to get a high-profile coach, and nobody else would want to stay long enough to turn it around. Not to mention that if Rhoads fails, we fall behind on facility upgrades and end up badly in debt with falling or stagnating AD revenues.

If CPR fails here, we end up in the MAC, period.

That post is BS. If a Utah can win, if Bosie St can win, if KU can win, if KSU can win, why cannot ISU.

What a preposterous statement. There are many good coaches out there, as assistants at major programs, or as head coaches at smaller schools, who would jump at this job.
Whether CPR can get it done, time will tell. But there are tons of qualified coaches who would love the chance to coach here.

Well for one, those teams don't have to play Iowa, Texas, Oklahoma, Okie St, Missouri, and aTm every year. Then add to that having to pretty much go undefeated against KSU, KU, TTech, and Baylor just to be bowl eligible makes it pretty damn hard for anyone to win right now with what ISU is facing in the new Big 12. Coach Rhoads seems like a stand-up guy, but recruiting isn't improving. If recruiting doesn't improve, we won't be BCS bound in 5 years football wise. We've got our work cut out for us.

Can we please implement a ban on posting for 2-4 hours following games like this?

I support Rhoads but the play calling is way to conservative (probably because we have no QB). These games put me to sleep and make me want to cry for us losing so badly.

We need better facilities to help with recruiting...so let's go build a new soccer/track/softball complex. No offense to those programs but they don't bring in the money.

Re: We need to support Rhoads, no matter what

I still think Rhoads is our coach, yes we have gotten our butts kicked the last two weeks, but top ten teams having bye weeks before us to prepare does not help in the least bit. These loses are inexcusable what I mean is getting a **** load of points ran up against us and not putting up points ourself. I still think we are better than the last two games which is why we cannot give up on our guys now that would be dumb!! Our schedule this year was not in our favor in the least bit, but I still think we need to play good competition before our conference foes. The coaches know what we need to do to be successful and what kind of recruiting needs to happen, I am sorry we just do not have the speed and players right now. The potential is there and is getting better it just takes time on both parts so just keep rooting on and being there for them they need us now more than ever, we will be just fine in the future all the pieces are not there yet, but will be. GO CYCLONES!!!

and if some donor steps up and gives the money and says "This is what will be built," what do you say?

Either does football. not enough to improve facilities like we need to. You can talk about facilities all you want. ISU needs to start winning. Everything else will take care of itself.

I agree with one statement from the OP...we need to support Coach Rhoads.

There will be good times and bad, it is all part of the building process. It can be done.

Re: We need to support Rhoads, no matter what

I support CPR but it's just getting depressing watching this team move backwards. I know our schedule wasn't conducive to winning a lot of games this year but it's the way we are losing. We aren't just losing by a score or two, we are getting railed by 40 points or more, and in today's case getting held to a shutout.

Disagree, when I was a student I always picked up the "Olympic Sports Pass" and went to as many Soccer/Gymnastics/Wrestling/Softball/Volleyball events as I could. They were always fun and it was also great to see the Clones win regularly. Our "non-revenue" sports are very strong.

Plus it was always fun to be the only guy heckling the opposing team's gymnasts.
