    Interesting Toledo Preview

Found this on Purdue's Rivals site when I was looking up Christan Graham. Scroll down about half way.

Purdue opens the season on the road AT Toledo. They will be facing much of the same challenges we do except this is a trap game for ISU, after Iowa and before Nebraska.

Between this game and Kent State(projected to win the East division of the MAC) we will have our hands full. Not to mention Iowa. This is a better non-confernce schedule than advertised.

At the very least its an interesting read. Plus its July and there's nothing to do.

Trap game? I expect Toledo to be better than ISU, so a better opponent on the road does not feel like a trap.

    It's a trap!

We'll win - we have to win.

I'm not passing up Cubs tickets on that Saturday to go watch us lose.

    CF tailgate in Toledo?

Seriously? I barely know anything about Star Wars, and even I know it's from Return of the Jedi.

I also remember a game with Kansas when Cy (wore a huge suit then) went out to center field, squatted, and "pooped" a couple of chickens that had been dyed blue then chased them around.

Heard that Beano and Kyper thinks Toledo will win the Big MAC. Greco, the Olympic God and left tackle, will be back and a whole bunch of other sore losers.

    Re: Interesting Toledo Preview

I think that we are going to see some pleasantly surprising results from our Cyclones in those non-conference games. Why? Because, for the first time in many years, the Clones are going to have the attitude, conditioning, and training of a top-tier Big 12 team. They might not yet have the talent of a top-tier Big 12 team, but they will have those other things, and that will result in immensely improved play over last season. Top-tier Big 12 teams don't mess around with the likes of Kent State, Northern Iowa, and Toledo. It's swift and brutal. I suspect that we are going to start seeing that attitude rather quickly.

And it will start at the top. I'm reasonbly sure we won't be hearing Coach C. telling us how Kent State is the second coming of Florida. I can't wait...

Seeing that on the field would make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Yeah, pulling out a close win feels great, but absolutely stomping someone 6 inches into the dirt feels better. I think football needs some close games and late runs in order to keep it exciting (how boring would it be if anyone's team of choice consistently beat their opponents by 40 points for years and years?) but for now, we'll settle for some good old-fashioned schoolyard beatdowns.
