ESPN 30 for 30: Once Brothers

Did anyone else watch this? It's a very well done piece about Vlade Divac and Drazen Petrovic. By far the best 30 for 30 I have seen.

This has been great. It has kept me from doing homework for an hour and a half. Great story.

Yep, I've got a psych test tomorrow and I haven't gotten much studying done yet.

Flipping through and got hooked. Very well done.

Highly recommended to all the DVRers out there. Looks like it's also on ESPN2 tomorrow evening.

It was very good but why the hell do they keep stringing us along waiting for the Bartman episode!? I just checked the wikipedia entry and now it's not even scheduled to be aired at this moment.

Almost all of the 30 for 30's have been outstanding. Between them and the 10th inning it's been a great time for sports documentaries recently.

Vlade did an excellent job narrating. I never knew the Croatia/Yugoslavia flag story.

Re: ESPN 30 for 30: Once Brothers

Wanted to watch it didn't get home in time but will try to find it somewhere along the way. My favorite one so far has been the one about Andreas Escobar and Columbia's 94 world cup team and their relationship to drug cartels. Very interesting and sad story.

Like I said, the only one I've caught that I didn't really care for was "One Night in Vegas". Just didn't care for the style it was done in.

Probably one of the best 30 for 30's yet, and a rare example of ESPN going outside live sporting event coverage and not embarrassing itself. Quite the story.

Re: ESPN 30 for 30: Once Brothers

Didn't get chance to see it..... I don't think people realize how good Petrovic was. Notorious trash talker and he had that Swarzenegger accent, 'I'll be back'. I can't remember who it was, but it was one of his former Nets teammates did an interview one time about how funky he would get because he did not use deoderant. Guys would have to back away sometimes because he smelled so bad. Don't ask me why I remember that I just do. He died just when he was coming into his own.

Enjoyed most of the 30 for 30's......I thought the Ricky Williams one was well done. The 'U' about the Univ. of Mami was overrated, waaay too long and seemed to have a a agenda to justify Mami players behavior. Made Micheal Irvin the rational one of all the players interviewed.

Re: ESPN 30 for 30: Once Brothers

I also loved "The 16th Man". Whereas "Invictus" focused more on the political aspect of Nelson Mandela, South Africa, and the 1995 Rugby World Cup, "The 16th Man" focused more on the sports aspect. Had I not seen "The 16th Man" before I saw "Invictus", I actually would have been lost as to what was going on in the movie, at least from what was going on in the World Cup. They went hand-in-hand.
