    Scoreboard? or Videoboard?

If they put a videoboard in the north endzone, I hope they'll be able to overcome the sun glaring off it...

thats what they are making it sound like...that sounds incredibly stupid. why put everything on the north endzone exposing our hideous bleachers down there. if we were to bowl in the south side, then i could see only having a video/score board on the north side even though it seems like it would be really awkward to put a full board on the north side. they should just add a score board with sound on the north end and call it good. saves money that we can spend on other much needed improvements

Because eventually when we bowl in the south end, its kind of dumb to make that whole section look behind them to see the board.

That is my understanding that it will only be the bleachers in the south.

Id be interested to know what our season ticket sales are for this year. Our attendance numbers have been way off at every game, that points to a major season ticket sale drop to me. Knowing that, i can see how itd be hard to justify that to the regents, even if phase 1 isnt about increasing capacity.

JP said we are at 31,000 season tickets for this year. The difference in game to game attendance has been the number of tickets visiting teams buy. Utah only bought 400, whereas UNI bought 4,000 this year. He also said UNI has bought more than that in the past (which is how we have gotten to 55,000 in the past). Same idea behind hosting Iowa and Nebraska.

    Re: Pollard on Facility Improvements

we just need to start scheduling pansies that are close to ames so that there fans will want to come watch and it will give us much needed wins. once we start winning attendance will increase on its own (unless our fans are lazier than i think they are)

These could all be tentative numbers. But in this document you can see a $4million figure budgeted. As i was looking up comparative options for the north endzone when this first came up, i found that 2 years ago, Mississippi State put in the largest video board in the SEC for right around 6 million. 4 million might not buy that, but it could still buy a lot of that, if you consider the prices to do something similar probably have dropped as thats now 2 year old technology. And the 4 mil could be rough numbers.

Honestly, I could live with a new video board and sound system for now. It'll definitely bide me plenty of time to wait for the south end zone! This'll make a huge difference on its own.

Gotta say, pollard knows how to work the media timing. Just got blown out, our fanbase is in a tailspin, pump things back up by letting out the info about a much needed stadium improvement coming soon.

Agreed. There's nothing more embarrassing than hearing our audio system crap all over itself at the beginning of the game.

    Re: Pollard on Facility Improvements

My next question is, did he bring this up, did someone ask him? With this being public info now, will we see some sort of announcement (and hopefully some renderings) of this on cyclones.com?

    Re: Pollard on Facility Improvements

Pollard is exactly right on priorities and justification. We all want the stadium to look better but the butts in seats don't justify it. Not popular, but it is a fact.

I tried to call in to get some more details, but the lady said they were full for the time left with JP. I am hopeful more info will come out when the Regents meet (hopefully approve) these plans. But nothing was said more than I posted.

I have to agree on the order. Audio\Video system is a much more pressing need.

As to butts in seats, the bowl doesnt increase capacity. It just turns hilside seats into real seats.
