When are going to get some linemen??

I believe our linebackers and DB's are just as good or even better than Iowa's. The problem we have is our line in front of them is not even close to Iowas. I am tired of our D linemen dancing and getting blown off the ball on every play. We can bring in all these great skill players and be happy with that but bottom line is we haven't had great offensive and defensive lineman in a long time. Now every once in a while we get one but never a tandem. WE NEED TO RECRUIT LINEMEN UNTIL THE COWS COME HOME!!!!!! On offense we usually have no more than 2 seconds to get the pass off and we are scrambling, on defense the opponents usually have at least 5-6 seconds before anyone shows up...This is very frustrating seeing this year after year...season ticket holder for 17 years to be exact!!!!

On offense, the problem is Arnaud. It's not your lineman, he made several terrible throws with no pressure. I don't know why he thinks he has to throw it 100 mph on every throw, especially when it's a 5 yard pass to Franklin. Your DB's run all the way down the field without turning around, and constantly get beat deep. How are they better than Iowa's? It seems they are always playing catchup down the field.

Why exactly are we even comparing to Iowa right now?

D-line sucks, saftey's constantly blow coverage over top....IMO, BENCH O'Connell and Sandvig...they are pathetic in coverage and let someone who has a chance to learn and grow and play for a couple years who is not a senior in at the Free Safety spot.

Re: When are going to get some linemen??

I couldnt agree more! I have always posted on here that we have good DB's and LB's but we do not have one single defense line player that could play for any other Big 12 teams NOT ONE. I would love to see the rest of our entire recruiting all on defensive line players. It all starts up front in football and its not fair for our LB's and DB's to have to try and defend wideouts for 5-7 seconds every throwing play. No **** opposing teams wideouts get open whenever they want.

I think he is just saying its easier to defend wideouts with a d-line that gets to the qb..... Actually its much easier. As far as our DB's running without turning their head?? At times what are they suppose to do when they have to chase the wideout constantly around the field for what seems to be atleast 5-7 seconds every throwing play? They are good its just unfortunate they dont have a good d-line to help them out a little bit.

The DL problem has been going on for years. Iowa has done a great job of developing DL from HS TEs and LBers. Sure they have actually recruited a few good DL, but most have been developed by being in the same program with the same coaches for all of their careers. DL that can come in and play are very far and few between, and ISU is not likely to be getting first year impact players at that position.

The LBers and DBs at ISU are better than the DL, but they are no where near as good as Iowa's, period. Iowa's DBs do not get beat deep, and everyone on the Iowa defense is a great tackler.

I think the OL is getting closer, but the guys that CPR is working with are, for the most part, not the right guys for a spread system. There are guys being redshirted right now that fit the mold that the coaching staff wants.

Re: When are going to get some linemen??

The problem is that there aren't many defensive linemen coming out of high school, or even from the juco ranks, that are ready to play right away. And those that are ready to play immediately are picked off quickly by the top programs. For the time being, we're going to need to develop defensive linemen, and that will take time.

Could part of the reason our DB's and LB's look so good is that our DL is poor?? Sims had a great game stat wise Saturday night, but do we really want our safeties making 10 tackles a game???

No - it's the O-line. As Ben Bruns said after the game, they didn't even seem to want to compete. You can tell they sure like to eat though.

he also did that in an earlier game. Someone has to tackle.

Indeed. Someone does have to tackle and I realize safeties help out in run defense but I'd rather have those tackles coming closer to the line of scrimmage
