I know next year's scholarship situation has been extensively cover
and I know it will work itself out. But (and there is always a but in posts like this)
I found it interesting that all the players that were discussed were all PF or Centers.

White-won't stick around long enough to play a single game
    Godfrey-tweener like Cory Johnson
    McKnight-talented but very skinny
    Booker-not a post player
    Railey-not a Big XII talent

I have no inside knowledge about any of these guys but with only 5 C/PF players
on the roster it seems we are carrying a minimum amount of posts and if one
of them left he'd need to be replaced. Yes, I know Ejim will be asked to play some 4
this year but to be competitive on a nightly basis you'd think him and Cook will
    mainly play at the 3.

    ummm..... what?

White - how do you know this? do you get to see the future? from all accounts royce, is on the right path here at ISU and is embracing the second chance at college basketball.

Godfrey - he may be undersized, but has a few things a guy like cory johnson didnt. Athleticism and a nasty streak. The guy is going to be a bruiser. If you have the strength, athleticism and attitude, then it doesnt matter if you are only 6'7"

McKnight - he's a twig now yes, but that's what have you have strength and conditioning programs for. he'll have no problem putting weight on the frame he has.

Booker - not a post player? come on now. he's a PF all the way. similar to Godfrey in that he may not be a 7 footer, but at 6'8, with his athleticism and strength, he can definitely play PF at this level

Railey - Sick of hearing this from people. How do we know that? He's never played a minute at this level and we can say that he's not good enough? he's got the size to be a legitimate center in the Big XII and i'm going to reserve my judgement until we actually watch the kid play

this season is going to be rough, but it's going to be great to get these young guys the experience and be ready to go for a big 2011-12 season

No, that's what I've read of this board,
this board is filled with posters that are too lazy
to read anything over one paragraph.

My point is we only have 5 C/PFs and those are the only players
speculated not to return. If one of those 5 left they'd need to be replaced
    so we'd still have 14.

    Re: 14

Why would you replace one if 13 is the limit? It appears that I, like many others, don't really know what you are talking about.

We may be short on bigs, in your opinion, but we are already over the limit so replacing isn't really an option no matter who the mysterious odd man out is. Besides, it doesn't matter who's speculated to leave since it's only speculation.

I read a book every day. I don't need to read long posts.

Why bother speculating on who may or may not leave after a season that hasn't begun? First game is a month away. Let the guys and fans enjoy this Cyclone season and then see what happens.

Since we are an elite team now, let's go get that One Cyclone Moment.
Make this one for the ages!

    Re: 14

I've got to agree that this post makes no sense. To make a point, usually you need some sort of thesis statement. I see none on your part. All that I see is a list of evidence that you are trying to present, but then refute that evidence by saying that you have no real insight into anything you are saying. So essentially, your post is nothing but a waste of everyone's time. Perhaps if you were to let us know what your opinion is rather than have us all try to determine what you are trying to say.

    Re: 14

The 14 will work itself out one way or another. We can only sign players to open scholarships.

I laugh at those bag on Freshmen for being too skinny and therefore will never be a Big 12 player.

Anyone who's watched DI ball realizes it's always a crapshoot if a player will gain weight or not thru their senior year. There is virtually no way to put it to an exact science on which athletes will fill out and who stays twigs.

    Re: 14

i think what he's trying to say is that it is being speculated that 1 of our 5 post players will be gone in a year or less, leaving us with 4.

see, people are saying that having 14 guys on schollie will "work itself out" because 1 of those 5 will be gone. but if that happens, we would want to replace that guy with another post for depth. then we would be back up to 14, so we would be in the same place as we are now.

    Re: 14

McDermott also never banked a scholarship. I remember that when HB announced his decision to go to UNC, we didn't technically have a scholarship open for him.

I wasn't a fan when McDermott was doing it, and I'm not a fan now. The silver lining is that Hoiberg seems to be bringing in much better talent. We'll just have to wait and see how this all works out.
