    Dell Computer Problem, Need help!

I have about a 3 year old Dell that more times than not, when you try to boot it up, the hard drive will just continue to run. Sounds like a fan turning the whole time. It would run forever if I let it. If I power it back down by holding the button, I can try again. After several times, it will finally boot correctly. Sometimes it will say do you want to start in Safe Mode, error at checkpoint 25H contact Dell. Any ideas. Is the harddrive going bad? Do I just need to reload windows? Do I need to throw it away? Whats the best option? Thanks.

I had about the same thing happen with a Dell laptop. I had to get it serviced, cost about $100 or $125. I did not lose anything on the hard drive.

Lay off the pron and you should be ok.

Did the bill say what they did? I am not against replacing the hard drive, I just don't want to buy one if it isn't the problem.

It has been doing this for months, so now I am using a different computer. I would leave it in standby and not have much trouble until I needed to restart or when it would occasionally lock up.

I have a couple of kids that want to get this one going, so I told them I would try.

    Thanks
