Related but slightly different, I would hope we'd look at schedule Nebraska in basketball in the future.

Yes, scheduling Nebraska annually in volleyball has to be a priority. Being so close and with an up and coming team ourselves, it is imperative that we get noticed on that level.

Re: OU-NU looking at possible FB series....

Here's the deal.. a draw back with three OOC games now, is priorities have changed... A team needs to feast on one cupcake, build confidence against a middle tier team and then have a "recruit game".

A "recruit game" is just that a showcase game for recruits/ in a heavily talented region ..That's why we (OU) have home and homes with FSU,Tennessee and Ohio State. We get exposure in a HUGE recruiting market with those games...

    Not so much with Nebraska..

So Nebraska can kiss my grits and go rot in the Rust Bowl... They are going to regret not having ties to Texas anymore..

I could see Nebraska do a Home-Home with OU for the 1971 game.

I doubt that NU is interested in playing OU every year.

Here's the other deal. Regardless of how NU and OU are doing in 2011, this game will be nationally televised around the country, making it "THE recruit game". You're going to get better coverage playing NE for the first time in ten years than you will an average year playing the teams you mentioned.

Nebraska thinks they have been roaming in the wilderness the last decade, the next decade is going to be far worse.. That future Nebraska team is going to more closely resemble Indiana than Ohio State..

I'm not saying OU isn't going to trend down this decade either but its far more likely to be up with the pipelines intact.

Not to start an NU/OU ******* match, but your reply had nothing to do with my post. I said regardless of how NU/OU are, it will be a marquee game.

That said, I think Nebraska will be fine (probably better off) in the Big Ten, whereas we'll all be lucky to have the Big XII intact five years from now.

I think ISU/Nebraska should happen every year in basketball. Enough games, and its has a local angle to it, plus a bit of rivalry.

you kinda miss my point.. Nebbish doesn't have enough in state talent and i honestly think they won't be a power in the Big Ten (long term) so meh

that matchup would only be marquee for the gray hairs

Imo, One of either Nebraska, Iowa, or Wisconsin will drop down a peg as the Rust Belt 12 dust settles.

Boomer, spare me. Nebraska is on the rise with Pelini. I don't think they will dominate the Big 10 like Ohio State currently is, but if Iowa can be a top tier team in the Big 10 then I like the odds of Nebraska being a top tier team in the Big 10. Nebraska has more tradition, more money, better facilities, a more known national brand, and has the same recruiting location challenges as Iowa.

Nebraska fell off the map due to two consecutive bad coaching hires, similar to OU after Switzer "retired." Maybe you are too young to remember the Gary Gibbs, Howard Schnellenberger, and John Blake eras at OU.

Thank you. I was waiting for someone else to chime in before I reposted. I agree Nebraska has a pretty bright future in the Big 10. Not to mention Nebraska has a pretty strong national fanbase, much more so than OU I might add.
