I know his uncle and talked to him last night. They are keeping him around and he may be on the roster if they make the ALCS

Oh and by the way, the Rays really messed up in how they used this kid IMO. First 3 starts he only allows a run a game and goes at least a 6. So what do they do? Keep sending him down and back up. Than when he comes back up, they use him as a relieve pitcher. His confidence has to be shaken a bit

Didn't he get called up just to make spot starts anyway because of injuries? So he had to know he would be getting sent back down (I don't think he should have though) and I thought they used him as a reliever in September when the rosters expanded because that was the whole plan on how they would use him in the playoffs and then they don't include him (at least for the division series) makes no sense in what they were doing with him now.

I agree 100%. I understand that was probably what the team needed from him at the time, but I think it's a little too much to ask out of a rookie 23/24 year old.

He knew he was spot starting. I guess IMO when a kid is rolling like he is, you don't change it. Don't make him a relieve pitcher. He is not use to it and probably won't fair well doing it. So than his confidence which is at an all time high....know is not so high

Not really surprising at all considering it is a 5 game series and they will use only 3 starters. Hopefully he will get added if the Rays advance to the ALCS.

I didn't have a problem with them sending him up and down. That's just a part of the numbers game and if anything, it helps harden the kids and make them more resiliant. BUT, when they decided to make one of the starters a bullpen guy I don't get why they didn't choose Neiman. Neiman was struggling, had some shoulder issues, and is a bigger, power pitcher and probably better suited for that bullpen role.

Exactly! I don't get why Neiman didn't get the move to the pen.

For a 5-game series, I guess I can understand this move.

If they advance and face the Yankees in a 7-game war, they're going to need all hands on deck and they better include him. He could be a middle innings guy or if a starter gets rocked or injured early, he could gobble up 5-6 innings
