Iowa State sets non-con schedule through 2017

AMES, Iowa – Iowa State’s non-conference football schedules are finalized for the next seven years according to Director of Athletics Jamie Pollard.

“We had to make several adjustments to our future non-conference football schedules to accommodate the new nine-game Big 12 schedule beginning next fall,” Pollard said. “Fortunately the changes in our schedule are not resulting in any financial penalty to Iowa State University. We really appreciate the tremendous cooperation that we received from several institutions around the country to help us adjust our schedule accordingly.”

The Cyclones announced last week that their 2011 pre-league slate will include Northern Iowa (Sept. 3), Iowa (Sept. 10) and at Connecticut (Sept. 17).

Here are the revised non-conference schedules for the following years:

2012 – Tulsa (Aug. 30), at Iowa (Sept. 8), Western Illinois (Sept. 15)
2013 – Northern Iowa (Aug. 31), Iowa (Sept. 14), at Tulsa (Sept. 21)
2014 – North Dakota State (Aug. 28), at Iowa (Sept. 13), Toledo (Sept. 20)
2015 – Northern Iowa (Sept. 5), Iowa (Sept. 12), at Toledo (Sept. 19)
2016 – Northern Iowa (Sept. 3), at Iowa (Sept. 10), San Jose State (Sept. 24)
2017 – Northern Iowa (Sept. 2), Iowa (Sept. 9), at San Jose State (Sept. 16)

Kind of disappointing that 11/12 of our schedule will be the same every year. Something should be done.

we sell out or get close when we play UNI. problem is I think it hurts much more to lose that game than it helps to win it.

Iowa and UNI will bring bigger than normal crowds so more revenue so I'm ok with that,

What I don't like is the Home & Away with Toledo and San Jose St - must not have been able to get 2 for 1s.

I'm happy with it, though I think every non conference game, besides Iowa, should be a home game.

We should have at least 2 easy wins a year and it looks like we have that. I know Tulsa was feared in the past, but without Gus Malzahn as their OC, there is no reason why we should be nervous on that game.

We should never have to play at Tulsa or Toledo IMO. San Jose St makes sense since we recruit from there a bit

You will never get those school to come to ISU without a game at their place at some point in time. What gets me is if it is indeed a 1 for 1 deal. All three of those schools should be a 2 for 1...

2017 – Northern Iowa (Sept. 2), Iowa (Sept. 9), at San Jose State (Sept. 16)
I like it -- playing UNI and the hoks is good for us and the state -- helps gate receipts

Now that we've got our schedule set 'til then, isn't it concerning that our 2017 recruiting class is still empty?

Same here. I was very excited for Air Force. I believe they were the first home game at Jack Trice too.
