    Changing a Culture

A nice read focused on Sarkisian at UW and Rhoads at ISU from Fox Sports. It really shows how special a coach Rhoads is and while many coaches speak a lot of "coach speak" Rhoads has delivered unlike most.

    Re: Changing a Culture

Thanks for the link. I couldn't agree more and the more I think about the win the other night the more certain I am that a Danny Mac coached team would have lost that game 10/10 times after blowing the lead. CPR doesn't have us all the way there yet but games like last Saturday are showing us that theres a different attitude around Ames.

Exactly, a Danny Mac team when it got to 24 all, would have not only packed in the tent, but been half way home by then.

    Re: Changing a Culture

We've blown big leads before, but I don't remember any times that we've blown a big lead and responded by scoring another 28 points to win the game.

    Fantastic article.
It really does show that things are not only changing, but being noticed in a meaningful way.

It has happened twice this year. When NIU got within 7 points, ISU teams in the past would have caved. Instead we put another TD on the board and then seal it with an INT.

    Re: Changing a Culture

I think the writer, Yogi Roth, was one of the guys who called the game for Fox on Saturday.

Totally agree, in the past that game would have been over when TT tied it.

    Re: Changing a Culture

I think the Culture of the entire athletic department is changing. In fact, I think we as fans are behind in this change. I will admit to fearing the worst at half-time on Saturday. However, I am making a personal change, as a fan, to better reflect the attitude of this FB program and entire AD.

"I'm proud to lead this program and this team in whatever we do. Whether it's a community service project, or through practice or winning a bowl game, but you don't do that without the kids believing and being all in, and going out there and accomplishing all [of] the goals and expectations that we set." - Coach Paul Rhoads

    Re: Changing a Culture

I posted during the in-game thread that it felt like 1999 KSU game again when TT came back and tied it at 24. It was a great feeling to see the team not just throw another couple of punches, but come back and win the game. A true showing of the culture changing for the team and why our expectations should also be changing.

Mac, Chiz, Walden, Criner, Duncan......there hasn't been a coaching staff in Ames that would have gotten their team to respond like that since Earl Bruce packed for C-bus. I honestly did not get nervous against N. Illinois. I got nervous the other night, but not the certain doom, here we go again feeling, that I would have in years past. I believe in this coaching staff so much more than any I've seen in Ames, and it's very obvious that the players feel the same way.

And thanks to the OP for the link. Nice read.
