Theory for remaining Iowa game tix

Ok, so Marty last night did get me thinking.

Could JP give the remaining tickets to tents?

If so would it be very likely that Iowa fans pool together and rent a bunch of tents?

I know for sure he will not sell them as single tickets, but what about big group chunks to people renting tents that day?

He already said no new tents. And no super huge tents. And no single game tix.

Re: Theory for remaining Iowa game tix

Put simply, he's stated that the number of tickets set aside for tents, visitor alotment, and guests remains the same as it would for any other game - that number being somewhere around 7K tents, 4K alotment and several hundred to maybe a thousand for guests.

The more and more I listen to JP, the more obvious it becomes that you aren't getting in without purchasing a season ticket, and that JP has no "outs" up his sleeve to fill the stadium. Plain and simple.

Now, that's not to say he can't do something funky with the season tickets come Aug 1.

Season tickets will stay the same price, all the way through.

Actually, they are resticting tents this year as well. Some companies that got more in the past, are not getting them. Only a base allotment, then go get season tickets if they want more.

If seats remain unsold for the game with Iowa, I see no reason at all that JP would not hold a lottery for the students to get a free or reduced price ticket to the game. This would put the most rowdy and supportive fans in the stands and fill all of the seats.

If a lottery is not possible, tickets could be made available to participants in campus activities that lead up to the game the week prior... best lawn display, best floor or house support etc.

All you would do is reduce the student section seating. The remaining tickets are in the upper deck anyway.

Why would these students not already have student season tickets??? The most rowdy/supportive students will already have their tickets.

Well, because "free or reduced price ticket" () give cause for people to be "rowdy and supportive".

Re: Theory for remaining Iowa game tix

    Sorry to be redundant.....

think you are all making this out to be more complicated that it needs to be.

If JP is concerned about, and should be, having empty seats for the EIU game all he has to do is go to the existing season ticket holders and offer them up to 2 or 4 additional seats. There won't be enough tickets left to cover this. I would buy 4 just to turn around and sell them. This way JP can keep his word and throws a bone to the season ticket holders. It's really not that difficult!

I agree, but ISU doesn't exactly have 60,000 students. Just over 20,000. 7,800 student season tickets. Doesn't leave a whole lot of other "sports" going students to give/sell tickets to.

Well, not all of them. I've become good friends with a girl from Uganda who's starting here in the fall. She's normally a fairly quiet, demure young lady, and I'd yet to see her get really riled about anything. So it came as a surprise to me when I walled down the hall and heard her yelling at the top of her lungs at a soccer match that was on TV. I talked to her about sports for a bit. She said she'd never seen American football, only heard about it, so I told her I was going to make her buy season tickets. If she liked yelling at soccer on TV, she was going to love yelling at football games in person. She replies, "Is it acceptable to paint on my face?" I laughed and said yes, and she goes, "If I can scream and paint my face, I hardly even care what I am cheering for! You bet I'll be there!"

I'm not saying there are thousands of students like that or anything, but it just goes to show you that you may catch some rowdy souls who just haven't considered going to football games for any of a number of reasons. Having a promotion in the general student body might not be such a bad idea.

I also remember a game with Kansas when Cy (wore a huge suit then) went out to center field, squatted, and "pooped" a couple of chickens that had been dyed blue then chased them around.

As of right now most tickets sold are not of hillside variety. The stadium shouldnt look too empty at all. I dont get why people are so worried about this.....

That would be no different than what has been happening the past few years, and he already said it isn't going to happen. I believe Jamie when he says that he won't sell you tickets unless you get the season package. If there are empty seats, there are empty seats. This will give him more leverage when he does this in future years. People will know for sure that he means business.
