    I don't buy Utah

and it's ranking.....the 4 opponents they have played have a combined record of 4-15 with only Pitt being a BCS school, the four teams they beat rank 76, 109, 116, 119 in total offense and 52,85, 89, 115 in total defense. Iowa State opponets are 15-7 while playing 3 BCS schools. Utah have a nice resume but they are not a top 10 team...maybe a top 25 team....

I love how we have no respect for any of our opponents.

I still think we give them a run for their money. Our offense is going to have to play like it did Saturday though. If this is what we have to show for the rest of the season, its going to be one fun season!

I wouldn't buy Utah either. That's a pretty good size state and would be expensive.

They may be playing the best opponents....but they are still pretty darn good! I'm not going to underestimate them - if we come out with a W next week, WoW we must have played DAMN well!

Easy to fence off, though. Lots of straight borders.

Not every state can sell a square acre for 2 cents like the Russians did with Alaska. But back to the OP, perhaps Utah could be overrated but they still have the talent and the coaching ability to beat ISU easily.

Not to mention all of the shoveling of snow. No, if I'm going to buy a state, it's got to have at least 20 percent of it's border be a warm beach.

Utah's play is factored into those statistics. If you get romped by Utah, you're not going to have one of the better defenses in the country.

Utah's actual gameplay has given us no reason to believe they aren't good.

Lots of rough terrain though. It would be tough to keep out trespassers.

    Re: I don't buy Utah

I like how now that we beat a so-so Texas Tech team, we think we can dish it out to anyone. Utah is much better than TT IMHO. Their offense should be just as difficult to stop and they actually play defense. Utah may not be a top 10 team but they are certainly good enough to run us out of our own stadium if we don't play a perfect game.

From what I see, the thread topic did not say, "We can/will beat Utah."

Yeah. What is there to buy about a program that ran the table and curb stomped Alabama in a BCS game a couple years ago?

It's not like they're ranked 10th this year and haven't done anything to earn that respect.

Agree. I think that Utah is our best chance in the next three weekends, but it by no means a foregone conclusion. Utah hasn't been tested yet (that win at Pitt is getting less impressive every week), but that doesn't mean they aren't good. We will deservedly be the underdog on Saturday and we will need to have a good game plan and excellent execution to win.

We can be Utah, but we also could get run out of the stadium if we don't execute. They are overrated at 10th, I believe, but they haven't shown any reason to doubt they are a top 25 team.
