Weirdest Thing You Have Ever Eaten

This is side inspired by the food topic about the kids food. What is the weirdest thing you have ever eaten? I try just about anything once.....within reason. I am usually open to new foods, ethnic or otherwise. We have a bar here in Sioux City called One-Eyed Jacks that serves a sandwich called the Kackleburger. The sandwich is built as follows: Its a traditional hamburger topped with cheese, peanut butter, grape jelly, red onions and one fried egg. Now it may sound nasty, but I swear to you, you wont hate it =) Its a meld of flavors your cant describe, but in most cases leaves you wanting another one down the road.

A still beating Cod heart...oh wait, that was Edgar on The Deadliest Catch.

This won't qualify as weird, but perhaps more of a unique item, but I've eaten Emu steaks before. There is a local Emu farmer that sells to the area butchers. Grilled and topped with caramelized onions. Yum.

    Alligator isn't bad either.

I can see how I would like that. Big fan of bacon and peanut butter sandwich.
Also pickle, peanut butter and banana sandwich.
As for drinks-Captain Morgan and Diet Dew for me.

Ostrich, Alligator, Hot Dogs. Those are the three scariest foods I have eaten.

My dad would eat Peanut Butter and Mayo sandwiches, it smelled so nasty.

Urchin sushi is the worst thing I've ever eaten. I love sushi, but urchin is intolerable.

    Snake is good eating.

anything from McDonalds... last time I ate there I had the strangest, most disgusting lower intestinal conditions in my life....

I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.

    Wierdest: Rocky Mountain Oysters. Rattlesnake.

Dumbest: Once in college I ate some Pizza that had been out for 6 days, a very drunken stooper that luckily had no consequences.

I hate to ask, but how were the Rocky Mountain Oysters? I have had alligator as well. Not bad. I bet Emu would be pretty good.

Peanut butter and tomato sandwiches with mayo.

Tripenein (sp.), basically it's a blood sausage. Not for everyone, not for me. Served at Remsen's Octoberfest.

Ate them when I was 10 or eleven. Had so many the guys that were cooking them told me what they were to deter my feast. It had no effect. I remember them as being chewey yet good. But at that age anything was good that was deepfried in beer batter. Wait, that is true at any age.

Man, when I worked at Davinci's I would make cheese steaks and there would be blood left over in the bottom of the meat bin. A guy I worked with would take the blood, throw it on the grill and eat the curdled blood/meat that would be created. I just couldnt do that. Was too weird.

When I was in Spain, I ate some pretty weird stuff. I had squid in its own ink (not fried) and it was pretty terrible. The texture (slimy) was awful.

I also had roasted pig which wasn't so bad after you got the skin off...becacuse the skin still had the pig hairs in it. It made eating the rest pretty hard.

Re: Weirdest Thing You Have Ever Eaten

Nothing is too weird to eat around our household. We've travelled a little bit, so we aren't surprised by much. We're having our favorite family meal, tonight; Fried falafel in pita bread with tomatoes and cucumbers. Falafel is mashed up chick peas fried in oil.

Slovakians like boiled bread, which is addictive, believe it or not. Sweet boiled bread with plum filling, with cocoa powder dumped on it in large amounts, and then a butter caramel sauce put on it hot, just hits the spot.

Goat cheese is amazingly good, as well. Vietnamese tripe soup is crunchy and delicious. The only thing I've not been able to stomach is a russian dish that consists of an individual serving cup of hot oil with a raw egg dropped in. You're supposed to drink it. I just couldn't get it down.

edited to add: I love calamari en tinto. One of my favorite dishes. The body is so much more tender than the tentacles.

Of course, there is the one time in Varina, when the Hell's Angels had a pony roast.
