ISU cracks top 50 in Sagarin this morning, #49

We cracked the top 50 in the Sagarin this morning, #49 with 36th SOS so far, I'm guessing our SOS will be #1 in three weeks

    Our opponents so far:
    #15 Iowa (65 SOS)
    #36 KSU (75 SOS)
    #40 Texas Tech (44 SOS)
    #85 Northern Illinois (108 SOS)
    #119 UNI (132)

    Next 3 opponents:
    #13 Utah (137 SOS)
    #5 OU (15 SOS)
    #20 Texas (31 SOS)

Other rankings I find interestingly different from human voters:
    #6 Ohio State (99 SOS)
    #8 TCU (78 SOS)
    #16 Nebraska (134 SOS)
#18 Nevada (90 SOS) they've won by greater margins of victory than Nebraska and several other top 25 unbeatens with a tougher schedule so far than several of them
    #19 Oklahoma State (86 SOS)
    #33 Wisconsin (114)

    down the road:
    #26 Missouri (112 SOS)
    #52 Colorado (53 SOS)
    #88 Kansas (69 SOS)

Wow Neb SOS at 134 and their weak performance against SDSU really makes you wonder how good they are. So TTU is still ranked ahead of ISU even though ISU beat them and has a tougher SOS - that seems odd.

    Good info - thanks!

I went through and projected the rest of the Big 12 schedule using the Sagarin ratings and also taking his 3.01 points home field advantage into account. Here is what I came up with:

    North Wins Losses Nebraska 7 1 Missouri 6 2 Colorado 4 4 Kansas State 3 5 Iowa State 2 6 Kansas 0 8

    South Wins Losses Oklahoma 8 0 Texas 6 2 Oklahoma State 6 2 Baylor 4 4 Texas A&M 2 6 Texas Tech 0 8

    North record: 22 26 South record: 26 22
Not looking too good right now, but that is because of our schedule. We had a nice win over Kansas and a close loss to Colorado.

I think there is still a small amount of data from last year that diminishes over the season until it is totally gone. There are a lot of other factors involved besides SOS, LSU is only #8 but they have the strongest SOS of any unbeaten.

I think Iowa will continue to move up, you can see they're now above several unbeaten teams including Nebraska. If our losses end up being Iowa, Utah, Texas, OU and Nebraska (along with KSU) we'd be 6-6 and still likely top 50 in Sagarin. We'd be ahead of lots of 7-5 and 8-4 BCS conference teams.
