Will the cooler weather help us?

Texans are weather wimps. I predict chaos, mass confusion and helplessness on the TT sideline tonight. And a surprisingly easy Cyclone victory.

I don't think it's cold enough to be a big deal without rain. This cold with rain gives me a little grin though.

    Last 3 days in Lubbock: 94, 86, 84.

Kickoff temp in Ames: upper 40s/low 50s with a slight north wind.

The lows have been in the 50's in Texas for about a week now. Lubbock gets much "colder" than Austin, Waco, or College Station but it hasn't yet. If it can get in the low-40's by kickoff I'd say it will provide an advantage.

Re: Will the cooler weather help us?

I think the cold weather issue gets overplayed. It's not like its 90°+, 24/7 in Texas. It's also not like the entire season in Iowa is below freezing. Kids from all over the country are recruited at every school - the cold should be an issue for our players from Texas/Florida/California as well. And with all the UnderArmour type products, weather just isn't that big of an advantage anymore.

With the new conference schedule and some of the talk about Texas playing here in November, I looked up a bunch of average temperature data for Ames. In November, the average high temperature is 54° on 11/1 and basically decreases 1°/day to 37° on 11/30. So generally speaking the gametime temps in November are in the 40's which just isn't that cold. Sure, everybody remembers "that one game" where it was 15° with 20 mph winds, but that just isn't the norm for that time of the year.

People tend to remember extreme events and then assume the extreme is closer to average than it really is.

You can spend a lot of time and money picking out the perfect floral bouquet for your date ... but you're probably better off checking if you have bad breath and taking the porn out of the glove compartment.

The moral: you gain more by not being stupid, than you do by being smart. Smart gets neutralized by other smart people. Stupid does not.

I think people who think it's an edge for ISU if today is 40 degrees are probably thinking it's a 1% edge, not an edge like the other team losing two star players right before kickoff. At least that's how I think of it.

Now if the best player and starting QB were both hurt, that would be a huge edge like the edge Nebraska was given in Lincoln last year

    No it won't. Dumb question.

While on live TV, Ford used a vulgar term to describe a private part of the female anatomy, adding that he was “happily married” and “got more than enough to eat at home.”

Ah, I remember Texas Tech in 2002. I bought a hot chocolate at JTS and the word "hot" was the most liberal use of the word that I had ever seen. I think there were ice cubes forming in my hot chocolate that night.

Real men don't wear long sleeves to play football. Especially when its only 40 degrees.

The only thing that's going to help us tonight is if our guys somehow stumble upon the ability to mount a pass rush.
