    Aaron Rodgers

I get a lot of Packers games living in Des Moines. I am a Chiefs fan so I don't think I am biased about this. I really think Aaron Rodgers is the best football player on the planet right now. Thoughts? I would say Peyton is still probably the most VALUABLE to his team because he is basically the OC as well as the QB. His accuracy, arm strength, and mobility combination is completly unmatched. The Packers would be a dreadful team without this guy.

He is really good. I don't think the Packers would be dreadful without him at all. They have a great defense and have 5 really good targets to throw to down the field

The defense is good, as well as Finley, Driver, and Jennings. The O-Line is terrible though. He made up for penalty after penalty last night with accurate throws. Good teams don't make 17 penalties in a game, but he is good enough that they still had a chance last night. He has no running game other than himself now that Grant is out.

    Re: Aaron Rodgers

He's definitely made his place among the elite in the game and possibly the best QB. But, if given the choice, I still think many coaches would take Peyton Manning or Drew Brees over Rodgers. (primarily because they have both won the Superbowl and know how to do it)

However, if I were building a franchise and had to pick one player in the NFL to build it around, I would have a hard time choosing someone other than Rodgers. Although I'm a Vikings fan, I have to say I'm a little bit of a Rodgers' fan (though I hate the Pack) just because of the way he plays the game.

As far as the best player on the planet, it's pretty hard to compare a QB to a LB or RB. If you asked 10 guys who was the best player in the NFL, you'd probably get 5-6 different answers right now (Manning, Ray Lewis, Adrian Peterson, Chris Johnson, Drew Brees, etc)

The stodgy oline lives again - only in GB. Their qb will be running for his life this year.

He also has no running game and a pretty subpar offensive line. Not to mention everyone else was about as mistake prone as possible last night and it was amazing that the Packers were even in that game.

    Re: Aaron Rodgers

Rodgers was one of the best QB's last season statistically with one of the worst (and maybe oldest) offensive lines in football. They have 3 rookie offensive lineman waiting in the wings, and I dont see Rodgers doing anything but get better.

    Re: Aaron Rodgers

The fact that we had 17 penalties and still could've won the game if not for a fumble by James Jones (not saying Jones caused us to lose, that was just the final blow) shows you how good Aaron Rodgers is.

I agree it is hard to compare all the positions(Best defensive player might be a fun debate as well), but I guess IMO when you are talking about the best player I am mainly looking at QB or RB. Virtually any other player on the field can be avoided or taken out of the game, negating their importance. I think Chris Johnson is probably the only RB in the conversation right now until Peterson proves he is over his little fumbling issue.

    Re: Aaron Rodgers

Oh I'd take Rodgers over Brees in a heartbeat. I think he has a better arm, is just as accurate, and doesn't have the running game that the Saints are capable of having.

I think Manning is still a league of his own. It doesn't matter if his line is good or bad. It doesn't matter who he has at WR. He just wins.

I'd put Rodgers second right now.

As a Vikings fan, I don't look forward to the matchup of Rodgers OR Peppers.

    Re: Aaron Rodgers

It's so tough to say who the best player in the league is. Last year I think it was without a doubt Revis from the Jets. He was the most dominant CB we have seen in a long long time

    Re: Aaron Rodgers

As a 49ers fan, I am still REALLY ****** that they chose Alex Smith over Aaron Rogers in the 2005 draft. It was so incredibly obvious that Aaron Rogers was going to be the better QB. I think that was as angry as I've ever been about a draft pick....especially since I turned out to be right!

Unfortunately I have him and he isn't putting up that many points. He will pick it up though.
