    TT Not happy with Tubbs

Seems like their fans are getting restless...even calling this game a must win for their season. The comments at the end of the article is what I am referencing.

Re: TT Not happy with Tubbs

“It’ll be exciting, especially for a lot of the freshmen, the new guys,” Bird said. “They’ll get to see all these different places. That’s a fun part of playing college football. You get to go to a lot of weird places like Ames, Iowa, and get to see their culture and how their fans react and things like that. I don’t think it’s going to be that big of a deal, and I think we’ll be ready to play.”

“I don’t think the weather will be that bad, but their fans are crazy,” said quarterback Taylor Potts, a fifth-year senior. “I like going on the road and playing other places.”

Some interesting quotes from that article.

Re: TT Not happy with Tubbs

The worst thing that could have happened for Tuberville is one week after they lose at home to Texas, the Horns go and get bombed the next week at home by UCLA. That had to turn up the heat a bit.

    Or Waco.

Maybe it's weird here because it's so quiet?

It's weird because alcohol is allowed to be sold inside the city limits

Yes, I know that joke is dated. Doesn't change the fact that even if I wanted to go back to Lubbock, there is no way I could talk any of the 6 friends I had with me that day into ever returning there.

Still applicable joke - Ames seems weird because our fans are more likely to offer you a beer than tell you to **** off while walking through the lots wearing your schools colors

Oh we will fight, fight, fight for Iowa State,
and may her colors ever fly!!!

I'm assuming he just mean places most people wouldn't travel to for reasons other than college athletics. I mean would you ever go to Manhattan, Columbia, Lubbuck, Waco, or most other college towns for a vacation? Probably not, but you would for a football game. But, he probably should have used a different word.

    Texas Tech fan here.

No doubt that the fans are restless after the HORRIBLE offensive output vs UT. Then UCLA does what it did. Neil Brown, who played and coached with Leach, said the offense wouldn't change. And it hasn't really. What has changed is the execution of the offense. As a Tech fan, I hope it gets back on track in Ames.

Mike Leech was very well liked in Lubbock. HE was colorful, quirky and he won a lot of games. Anyone will have a hard time following in his shoes. Following a successful coach can be difficult.

Same here. Thought the guy was a perfect fit for TT. He played to win, period. Loved his honesty too. I just don't see TT as a good fit for Tech, but he is a big name.

Re: TT Not happy with Tubbs

I always liked having Mike Leach as one of the Big 12 coaches. He added a lot of interest, got the conference some publicity, and always said just what he thought.

It would be too bad if Tommy Tuberville doesn't last at Texas Tech after all of that time/cost/effort incorporating his personal monogram into the logo...
