Texas Tech, Utah, and Oklahoma All have Bye Weeks Before They Play ISU

Texas Tech, Utah, and Oklahoma all have bye weeks the week before they play ISU – How big of a disadvantage is this for the Cyclones? OR Could it be an advantage for the Cyclones?

I don't think it will be the determining factor but we can add it to the list of things that stink about the schedules.

And our bye is.....? We got shafted bad when they scheduled this way. This isn't the first year we've had several teams with byes coming into their game with us and I believe we didn't have a bye last year either.

Utah and OU won't matter - I don't see us being competitive with either of them.

No way to really know if Tech or ISU holds the advantage solely based on Tech's bye.

Our bye is the end of the season. We haven't had an actually bye since 2005. Its self inflicted too. JP doesn't want to play games on Thanksgiving because of poor attendance. So instead of getting a bye week, ISU plays 12 straight games and ends the season around November 15-20th.

Thank god this will be the last season of that stupid idea. The new Big 12 will play games into December and teams will have 2 bye weeks. ISU will be forced to take at least one during the season and play games on Thanksgiving.

We are underdogs in all three games. I think we may be able to use the non bye-week as an advantage. I'm hoping we are a little crisper in the 1st half than our opponents on offense, defense, and special teams. Time will tell. Go Cyclones!!!

We have the smallest athletic budget in the Big 12 if our fans would show up on the Saturday after Thanksgiving then we would have a game, but we don't. Thus we need to forgo the bye for the extra revenue, which is the smart thing to do.

We had a bye in 2008 between UNLV and Kansas. The resulted in playing KSU on the road over Thanksgiving.

Personally I feel the first few post-Thanksgiving games may be poorly attended but with successful teams they will improve.

It is a non-factor. A lot of teams use the bye week to implement schemes for games down the line and it is not soley used to prepare for the next opponent.

I agree, but many fans including the students lose their "loyalty" in these situations. I mean why go to the game if the tailgating is going to suck

Or to get guys back from injury. Think of the games we played without starters last year that a bye week could have really helped out with.

So far the ISU offense has shown absolutely nothing that a would require a week to prepare for. let alone 2 weeks. I think it is to ISU advantage, since teams will be a week without playing a game and they have nothing in ISU to focus on.

Keep in mind that Utah didn't originally have a bye before our game. Their game swaped dates with KSU, to accomodate the game at Arrowhead.
