    Playing K-State in the future

I dont know if this has been covered, if so remove this thread. When JP was on the radio Sat he said the K-State game will be over Thanksgiving in the future. Looks like some may try to get this as a new rival game. He also said since we have trouble drawing that weekend they are thinking of moving our home game to KC, but K-States home game will be played on their home turf.

I hope this is a joke

Rivalry game with Farmageddon trophy +1

    Neutral/Non-neutral setup -1

I don't think JP actually confirmed that it WOULD be over Thanksgiving and he didn't say we would NEVER play K-State in Ames. He thought the option to play in KC (for only our game) would be a possibility.

Re: Playing K-State in the future

There's no way in hell that this game should move to KC. That's seriously messed up and absolutely pathetic that we have to do that. I'd bet we're the only fanbase in America that has such a marked drop off that weekend, and I can't explain it. Other schools either have worse attendance than us all the time, or much better.

We might only get in the low 40,000 in Ames, but we'd never get more than 10,000 to KC that weekend. Absolutely NUTS.

It's not. JP admitted that Snyder doesn't want the game in KC anymore, but he said there COULD be a possibility to play our home game in KC in the future. His reasoning was poor attendance at Jack Trice in November due to cold weather.

Re: Playing K-State in the future

hadn't heard that but 1) if we have trouble drawing that weekend - why play it that weekend? 2) If he thinks he will have trouble drawing at Jack Trice, is he really willing to give KState another home game in KC? Certainly if many aren't willing to go to Ames, fewer would be willing to go to KC. Seems really ridiculous actually, I am all for a rivalry - but lets not embarrass ourselves trying to create a rivalry thanksgiving game that doesn't exist. Huge JP supporter, but I will have to hear his logic on this as it seems really flawed if this is how it might be

What? Why? Anything but a home and home would be pathetic. If this is true, JP needs to keep out of the scheduling, does he want us to build a program or build a bank account? You can do the latter by building a program.

Maybe JP is just keeping the option out there for when Snyder goes away too? Trying to give him the benefit of the doubt, has to be more to it then let KState play in front of a home crowd year in and year out

Re: Playing K-State in the future

Doesn't make any sense to give up a home game if you not getting rid of a road game in off years. Snyder would never give up their home game. Travelling to KC for a game on Thanksgiving weekend isn't a good draw, not for us or K-State. That's not a wise set-up. JP must see that.

The main reason attendance was poor that I remember is that we played Mizzou at NIGHT and it was absolutely freezing. There is a 20 degree difference at least in playing an outdoor game at NIGHT in mid to late November versus playing the game during the daytime.

It would be absolutely ******** to give up a home game to play in KC. If JP plans on doing that then he should plan on dropping the price on season tickets as well. It sucks to pay the same price and get one less home game.

Very true, but to build a football program you do not decrease the exposure of your campus. Also you do not hurt the local economy. If this happens you can drop 8 tickets from this year, I would not support this decision. He can say what he wants, but having the game in Ames gives us a better chance at a W, then you factor in the weather and the winds in Ames in November, HUGE advantage ISU.

Yeah, that sounds stupid. I liked the KC game but I also realize that it wasn't a hit. It should have been but since or fanbase is somewhat lame, it wasn't. The only part of that makes a bit of sense is the weather deal.

    I'm on Twitter too: Tre4ISU

    Or so I have read.

Re: Playing K-State in the future

I think more Cyclone fans would embrace an annual game in KC if 1) it was included for the season ticket holders as apparently KState did 2) it was in November - not necessarily Thanksgiving but Novemeber and 3) We are winning more than losing . Sept/October is a poor time, last thing I want to do is give up a great weather weekend in Iowa to make a road trip to KC, kids just in school, etc.
