Are we looking at a 2-10 season?

Ken Miller thinks so. That is just scary. From a defensive standpoint, we have been improving, but this offense is the worst I have seen in my recent memory.

I still can't believe this offense isn't clicking, so many threats at receiver.

Re: Are we looking at a 2-10 season?

2-10 is pretty bad...even for this ISU team. Though, if you're banking on a 4 win season, then who knows?

As a side note, Ubben over at the Big 12 blog has ISU 9th in his conference power ratings, above Kansas and Colorado. Yes, it's just the opinions of one blogger, but still...

Thus far into the season, within the conference, ISU is...
    a) 12th in scoring offense with 20.3ppg.
    b) 10th in rushing offense with 126.00ypg
    c) 10th in passing offense with 169.3ypg
    d) 12th in total offense with 295.3ypg

    e) 5th(tie) in scoring offense with 18ppg allowed
    f) 12th in rushing defense with 209.75ypg and 7TDs allowed
    g) 4th in passing defense with 143.8ypg allowed, with 7 INTs forced and 2TDs allowed
    h) 9th in total defense with 353.5ypg

No no it's not. We weren't that far off against Kansas State. We need to get Arnaud healthy. The OL will gel. We will win 4 to 5 games

Re: Are we looking at a 2-10 season?

A lot of threats on paper, but we haven't seen much from any of them in the open field besides maybe Lenz on punt returns. The dink and dump offense isn't working if we don't at least OCCASIONALLY stretch the field. Our yards per attempt are incredibly weak -the safeties are crowding the line as are the CB's. Nobody is scared of us throwing downfield or across the middle -especially with Tiller in there.

I firmly believe we have to have a "gimicky" offense -a little like Boise State, say. We can't expect to line up and run over teams sheerly on talent. We need something a little foreign, that teams aren't used to seeing every week. Teams see an offense like this every week now, since a ton of teams are going to the spread or horizontal offense. We just don't execute it very well, and/or are lacking in playmakers.

Re: Are we looking at a 2-10 season?

I don't believe that we lose out. We don't go undefeated. Somewhere in the middle.

Obviously, to go to a bowl game this year takes a couple of things that are tough to see in this team right now, but if we beat TT, then we're not in bad shape.

I'm still not convinced about Nebraska. We can have a shot at that game. Obviously, Kansas has troubles.

    Any given Saturday.

Since we are an elite team now, let's go get that One Cyclone Moment.
Make this one for the ages!

Worrying that my team is capable of going 2-10 makes me an *******? I dont think they will, but until the offense improves I just dont know anymore.

Re: Are we looking at a 2-10 season?

You can't blame any media source for saying or thinking that. The defense won our game against an FCS opponent and our offense was about nonexistent. Unless things dramatically change, there are not too many teams left on our schedule that you will beat by defense alone.

No. Gene Chizik does not coach here anymore.

Though use of the "spread" or the "crud" is wasting athletic talent away. Herman makes McCarney's and Walden's OCs look like geniuses.

Why do you care what a radio personality from the Des Monies market thinks? Is Miller the horse jockey, gambling degenerate? I give thanks every day that I am not him.

2-10 is possible, but unlikely... Of course, kxNO would take the worse case scenario in September. One of them was talking about how ISU would win like 6 games over the next 3 years back in July 2009.

Re: Are we looking at a 2-10 season?

I'm rather pessimesstic about our team this year, but I certainly think we can win another game or two this year at least, and am still holding out hope that they suprise people in a few others. Even when we have our heads up our ***** we have been known to have flashes of WTF????ness from time to time (See Nebby last year, the near upset of OU in '07).

Some of our issues are also correctable (stupid penalities that kill drives). Don't get me wrong somethings just aren't going to correct themselves this year, but we've managed to win 2 games, and should have pulled out a 3rd one, so to say we're going 2-10 is just terrible

Oh we will fight, fight, fight for Iowa State,
and may her colors ever fly!!!

It can work if they continue to not turn it over themselves.
