    Pollard interview recap/comments

    Very good interview...entertaining too.

One thing that stuck out to me...is we've been dead last in the Big 12 for almost every year when it comes to calculating how all of the sports have done. That's bad. We actually finished 11th this past year, ahead of K-State.

Pollard's goal is to be in the top half by 2011. We've never been higher than 9th.

I liked his take on the Chaplain issue. No real comments other than letting the process take it's course and thanking everyone for speaking out - even those against it. He especially thanked them, as their comments will help make sure the Chaplain stays what it should be rather than heading into something it could become - unintentionally.

Talked about the Big 12 in general. Pollard repeated some of his thoughts from a previous interview on how the Big 12 should investigate closely sharing revenue from TV deals.

Also, about 45,000 seats are spoken for already for the ISU-Iowa game.

Thanks Jon for a job VERY well done.

I really enjoyed his explaining the marketing shift. Their reasoning behind the fewer yet larger summer events and the idea of the "Lost Generation" of ISU fans. That never really occurred to me in such a simple sense, but he laid it out very well and is an excellent approach in looking to the NEXT generation of ISU fans.

What is this, like a post game thread?

Everytime I listen to Jamie, it always reminds just how far we need to go as an athletic department. When he said we had a strangle hold on last in the conference, it's very sobering.

Loved it when Jon was losing words at the end, not able to give the radio call sign. Pollard chimed in with "The Cyclone Radio Network".

Pollard, not only smart and a marketing genius. But he's witty too!

I did as well. Hopefully this will help us to catch up with EIU in the number of casual fans.

Yep. I really don't think we realize how bad things are/were.

I agree...Jamie leaves no stone uncovered - catering ISU athletics to everyone.

    Re: Pollard interview recap/comments

He also said there are 33,400 season tickets sold for the upcoming football season and that if the Iowa game was held today there would be just over 45,000 in attendance including visitor tickets, clone zone, tents...

Again he said there is no way they will sell single game ticktes for the Iowa game.

No mention of the Iowa game ticket stuff then this time? I didn't get to hear it.

    Re: Pollard interview recap/comments

I did like his comments on the Taylor situation and how he and G-Mac handled it. The more I think about it, the more I think the right decision was made.

"Not turning our back on the people we bring here" was the exact quote I think. Well said.

Yeah, he did, I just forgot about it and added it to the original post. Someone else also just posted about it.
