    JTS turf

ISU may not have the best football team in the country. They may not have the best stadium. They may not have the best facalities. But they may have the best field to play on in college and the pros. Natural grass that takes a beating and still looks great after the game. After all the rain this summer, this week and yesterday that field looked good as new after the game. Hell it was hard to tell it got rained on yesterday before the game. Hats off to those that take such good care of that field.

Agree 100%. After both games this year it hardly showed signs of abuse.

Should remain is good shape for the TT game as we aren't supposed to get any rain this week. It has held up nicely despite the heavy rains all summer.

I think Walters said that our groundskeeper was previously in charge of the I-Cubs field and won something like field-crew of the year in AAA

The problem in the past has been the man turning us against one another. We have been unable to see the truth, because we have fighting for ten square feet of ground, our turf, our little piece of turf. That's crap, brothers! The turf is ours by right, because it's our turn. All we have to do is keep up the general truce. We take over one borough at a time. Secure our territory... secure our turf... because it's all our turf!

As a friend stated yesterday, "wouldn't expect less from an ag school."

Honestly, I'm probably biased due to the whole 4 years of marching band, but it was always the best field to march on. I can't remember one game in my years that it was bad to march on. Sure, it took a beating, but it was always good grass and good soil. I've always been really impressed with the work the grounds crew does with the turf.

    Re: JTS turf

I had a Uni fan ask me what type of surface we had in the tailgate lot. When I told him natural grass he laughed and swore it was going to be one muddy mess. I promised him it would hold up perfect and he didn't believe me. After the game I ask him how the field look and he was surprised how greet it held up.

I second that. Soldier Field's turf is really bad. Might as well go artificial.

It's a little-known fact, but ISU is widely-recognized as one of the best turf management programs in the world. Our students and staff have won quite a few national and international competitions in the last few years.

    True and Valiant

I also remember a game with Kansas when Cy (wore a huge suit then) went out to center field, squatted, and "pooped" a couple of chickens that had been dyed blue then chased them around.
