    Jason Berryman Sighting

I saw him this evening working out at Ames Racquet & Fitness Center. Does anyone know what he's doing back in town?

    Re: Jason Berryman Sighting

I think I heard that he is back finishing up his degree, although he doesn't show up in the directory. Maybe that only has full-time students, which he may not need to be to finish his degree.

If that's true then good for him. It appears that he is on the right road. Imagine if he didn't get in all that trouble. I think he'd be a senior this year. It's fun to think what the Cyclone defense would be with him terrorizing behind the line of scrimmage and Bowen getting anything past the line.

We wouldn't have let the opposing team complete 72% of their passes with him rushing the quarterback, that's for sure.

    Don't even go there...

Once he signed a practive squad deal with a pro team he would lose all college eligibility.

Actually, he does have 2 years left! No such luck though since he probably hired an agent or was in the supplemental draft or some other such rule.

I am sure we could play a much less talented, yet ethically minded athlete who could blow containment, each and every play as bad as Berryman did. If I had a dime for every time he blew past a sweep or a pitch/dump pass and continued to pursue the QB who'd just faked his socks off, I'd be a rich man.

For all his raw talent and speed, my 14 year old daughter would make a better Defensive End than Berryman.

Can't agree with that. He was the best player on ISU's best defense(2005-06) during Mac's tenure. Sure, there were times where we got burned by his aggressiveness, but that's why there are 10 other guys on the team. I know most Hawkeye fans were glad to see him get kicked off the team.

Had he not gotten in any trouble, he would have graduated last year. He was in the same class as Brent Curvey.

Really? Because last year we DID play with much less talented defensive ends and they didn't do anything close to what Berryman would have. Or maybe you didn't notice that the opposing QB had at least 7 seconds to throw the ball every time he dropped back.

Let me know when your 14 year old daughter is invited to an NFL camp.
