“We can’t get out of our own damn way,” Iowa State’s offensive coordinator Tom Herman told reporters on Tuesday night after practice.

The coaches seemed fired up. I like this. I'm sure they got on some ***** at practice and even tuned up their own game as coaches. Should be a fun one Saturday.

Yeah Wally was pretty adamant about that too. He mentioned it three times in the interview.

Wait, hold on! Penalties, dropped passes, bad RB reads have something to do with the success of our offense? Why didn't he say AA sucks and Capello is the best QB on the squad. Must be due to some blind loyalty because AA is nice and from Ames.

More seriously, glad he said something and glad he included everyone including himself.

    1. Does Rennie get his big plays scframbling on passing plays or is it more designed runs for him
    2. I wonder if we will have a "spy" for him?
    3. I sure hope our run defense does better. IMO- we will do better against faster teams instead of the power running teams. WE really need our DEs to seal the edge though.

Both... He's had some impressive scrambles but I think overall the bigger threat is on the designed plays where he has the option to run.

Yeah, we have run a lot of read-option plays when he is in, and he has had some fantastic runs doing so.

I think the speed of the ISU defense, while not great, is not bad. The last two weeks the Clones have been basically run over. Hopefully this week there will be more of a draw at the LOS and the LBers and safties can make some plays.

We have been ran over, but I don't think we have been ran past. What was the longest run given up? Probably 25-30 yards, to one of the best RB's in the country.

Seems like half the fan base has turned on him? Not really. Only if your perspective is swayed by the vocal minority. If Tazmania had not been defending him then would it have been the whole fan base has turned on him?

Before the super smart fact checkers jump on you...your point is correct, stats are just wrong (iowa game).

Yaman, Velco jdvjdjd, a whole bunch of us don't think he is the greatest but we understand exactly what Herman just said. It AA isn't THE problem he is one of six problems.

Iowa had a couple huge runs, not sure how long, but way too long. Both these were not a question of speed but because the Iowa back got to the secondary untouched and the safety was way out of postion to make the play on a guy coming through the hole at full speed. Like I said, if ISU can at least tie at the LOS then LBers and safeties can make plays like the defense is designed to do, rather than trying to fight off blocks and making the tackles. As bad as the KSU game was I though the defense played much better than against Iowa. At least there were not any players out in lala land at the snap.
