Leach to U of New Mexico?

Living in New Mexico and the Football desert. UNM and NMSU are terrible and both trainwrecks at 0-3. Now they are firing Locksley and replacing with Leach?
Note the UNM President hired Leach and Bobby Knight at Texas Tech (and Alford @UNM).

Facebook Speculation Fuels Rumors of UNM, Leach By Mark Smith and Greg Archuleta Wednesday, 22 September 2010 23:30
Will former Texas Tech coach Mike Leach replace Mike Locksley as head football coach at the University of New Mexico next month?
That was the hot rumor flying around Albuquerque after KOB-FM radio's posting on its Facebook page on Wednesday about 10:30 a.m.
The rumor apparently started on another Facebook page, that of Gerges Scott.
Scott, a crisis communications consultant, told the Journal "I was just speculating" based on information "from unnamed sources."
Scott is a former executive producer of Lobo sports for KRQE-TV and a long-time television news producer.
    KOB-FM picked it up:
"Rumors coming from our sister station 770 KKOB that UNM Lobos football coach Mike Locksley will be fired after the game at NMSU on October 9th, and replaced with ANOTHER controversial coach! As many details as we have coming up in about 15 minutes."
KOB-FM's Facebook page never came up with any kind of update. Still, it didn't take long before word spread that Leach would be that coach. Leach coached the Red Raiders while current UNM president David Schmidly was president at Texas Tech.
Meanwhile, UNM athletics director Paul Krebs tried to put an end to the speculation on Wednesday afternoon.
"Mike Locksley's our football coach. Period," Krebs said when asked if Leach would replace Locksley this season.
"As I said (to the Journal) on Saturday, we will make an evaluation at the end of the season. We'll sit down with coach at the end of the season, but he's our coach."
The 0-3 Lobos play Saturday at 0-3 UNLV.
Leach, after being dismissed late last year at Texas Tech, is a commentator for college football broadcasts on CBS College Sports.

Locksley may go down as the worst college football head coach in history.

The UNM President just got a Vote of No confidence from Faculty. Anything is possible here at UNM. Bobby Knight got Alford the job here due to his Texas Tech hiring by UNM president when at Tech. Locksley is a complete and total trainwreck as a head Coach, choked an assistant coach last year (lawsuit filed) and now had a incident in a bar last month with a local sports writer!

meh, kob sucks- this probably wont happen.

My wife has to go to a BAR luncheon and he is the guest speaker on ethics. Talk about a wrong choice for speaker- he sexually harasses a lady in the athletic building- lawsuit. He then punches his receivers coach- lawsuit.

It's a shame these guys can get paid so much and still have a job.

Mountain West would have to be psyched about the prospect of Leach making UNM into another relevant football program for the conference.

Any chance Leach is waiting for Texas A&M opening if Sherman fails this season ? I am sure he is itching to put 70+ pts against Tech

Leach will make any team into a winner. His offense is so dynamic he does not need the great athletes to run it.

0% chance of A&M ever wanting to hiring Leach IMO.

Leach would probably be just as welcome in College Station as Barack Obama.

    Maybe less.
